Our client in the legal industry is looking for an experienced Corporate & Estate Paralegal to join their boutique firm in downtown Vancouver. The successful candidate will be report to and directly support 3 of the firm's Principals. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals who enjoys working in a supportive and fun team environment and a great work-life-balance.Duties and Responsibilities:Corporate Law:Responsible for corporate support related to our tax, estate planning, and estate administration practicePreparation of corporate documents including incorporation and organization of BC and Federal Companies, corporate and tax reorganizations, amalgamations, share structure amendments and article alterations, share allotments and transfers, dissolutions and restorations, name changes, redemptions/repurchases and dividends (capital/eligible/regular).Working with Proprietorships, Partnerships, Limited Partnerships and Societies.Reviewing, summarizing, and analyzing corporate records and rectifying deficiencies.Preparing basic and complex tax driven transactions involving documents for predominantly BC and some federal companies.Estate Administration:Drafting documents related to probate and estate administration matters, including probate and estate administration documents, resealing applications, notice to creditors, and estate distribution documentation including executor/administrator statement of accounts.Conducting and reviewing necessary Land Title, BC Assessment Authority and charity searches.Direct contact with clients, accountants, financial advisors, charities, financial institutions, and other professionals.Maintaining accurate client document records.Qualifications:Completed Paralegal Certificate or Diploma5+ years corporate paralegal experience in a similar role with comparable responsibilities in a corporate services department.Knowledge of ALF is an assetKnowledge of legal, technical procedures, statutes, regulations, and governmental practices applicable to the corporate area is mandatory.An understanding of BC Land Title Office requirements and LOTA is an asset, as well as a working knowledge of various applicable databases –i.e. BC Online, LTSA, municipal tax searches etc.Experience drafting application documents for B.C. Estate Grants and/or basic estate planning documents is an asset.
