THE OPPORTUNITY We are looking for an enthusiastic Sales Manager to join a dynamic transportation solution company for the equipment division based in Edmonton. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Sales Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day operations of the Sales Department overseeing five (5) locations throughout Alberta. These responsibilities are primarily fulfilled through effective personnel management, knowledge of market potential and adherence to established performance standards. We have multiple Volvo truck dealership locations throughout Alberta for all heavy hauling needs. Also, we provide light-commercial vehicle leasing/rentals including fleet trucks, work trucks, commercial or company vehicles and have recently acquired five (5) Bobcat dealerships throughout Alberta.

The duties of the Sales Manager will include, but are not limited to:
Understands and adheres to Company standards, policies, procedures, and practices.
Actively seek and keep abreast of all relevant industry/ occupational knowledge, changes and potential opportunities thru the pursuit and participation of training, industry specific literature, industry, trade or professional specific associations and education.
Ensures safety policies, standards, and procedures are established and followed to achieve a safe work environment and safety for all staff, customers, and visitors as well as the company's safe work objectives and requirements.
Sales Operations
Meet or exceed sales targets set for new and used equipment.
Develops and maintains adequate systems and procedures to provide a measure of efficiency of the department and overall sales process. Establishes and directs paper flow for quotations, sales files, work orders, customer invoicing, purchase requisitions and payables, and management reports.
Facilitate new equipment builds and make changes to specifications as they are required to keep incoming inventory in line with Bobcat changes.
Facilitate corporate deals, dealer transfers and oversee delivery logistics.
Perform truck appraisals establishing the wholesale value of all possible trade units, the resale opportunity, repairs needed and determine whether the unit should be sold retail or wholesale if accepted. Ensure all equipment accepted on trade are reconditioned according to dealership and manufacturer quality and time guidelines.
Approve all sales incentives in writing before submitting to accounting.
Ensures all sales problems listed by customers are addressed according to company policy and practice to maintain positive company/customer relationships. Maintain daily/ weekly updates in customer data base system and ensure proper follow up of all potential buyers.
Provides pro-active leadership and management of all staff resources within Sales Department to maintain a functional sales floor in line with overall department forecasts and company policies.
Manages the sales department staff. Set targets, performance plans, and rigorous, objective standards for sales representatives.
Meet with reps one-on-one weekly to review performance, progress, and targets.
Coach individual sales representatives one-on-one through prospecting, cold calling, qualifying and closing deals to help them improve sales performance and maximize the level of profit generated in the sale and finance of each unit.
Participate and document spontaneous ride along sales calls and planned field days with at least one sales representative per week.
Plans and preside over weekly sales team meetings.
Track each salesperson’s activity to ensure expected performance levels are being met.
Develops and supervises execution of an annual training program ensuring all sales representatives have access to continuous product and training resources.
Monitors and conducts staff's performance and addresses in timely manner any concerns or infractions per company policy. Proactively promotes and participates in Bobcat Environment Management Program (EMP) and dealership training initiatives and standards set by Original Manufacturers (OEM).
Marketing
Partnering with the Vice President of Operations, creates and develops department's annual Marketing and Business Development Plan. Assesses and makes changes as necessary to department strategy to maintain market-adopted sales policy. Project unit sales, gross profits, expenses and operating profits for new and used sales.
Identifies and plans marketing promotions, activities, and specials.
Studies local market conditions, demographics, and past sales history. Makes recommendations to the Director of Sales regarding short- and long-range advertising plans, sales promotions, staffing needs, lease promotions and compensation plans.
Develops relationships in conjunction with but not limited to salespeople with fleet accounts, suppliers, associations and individuals to promote all aspects of the dealership.
Attends industry trade shows to generate sales leads, learn about competitive product changes and build customer relations.

Minimum of 8 to 10 years related dealership experience in equipment sales, service and parts department.
Prior supervisory/management in related industry environment an asset.
Special Training/Certificates:
Valid class 3 Drivers License required.
Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate an asset.
WHMIS an asset.
Effective time management, decision making, planning and organizing skills.
Strong computer skills with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
Truck and component product knowledge essential.
