The Position

Our downtown Edmonton client is seeking a Wires Analyst to work onsite for specified days monthly for their Information Technology department. Reporting to the Manager, Banking Support and Wires Processing, you will be a critical part of the first line of defence in analyzing submissions to ensure wires meet particular regulatory requirements and accurately processed as part of providing high quality services to our client’s network. You will be the first point in control in ensuring that what is sent for release is first-time right. You will exercise critical thinking in analyzing wire requests submitted by branches to ensure they are accurate for posting and meet requirements and adapt to large volumes and get out by cut-off with accuracy. You will possess flexibility and strong initiative as well as high degree of attention to detail in all activities.

What You'll Do

Processing incoming and outgoing wires

  • Act as a first line of defence on wires by ensuring that wires assessed and entered are first-time right and will provide accurate, straight-through processing.
  • Problem solve and provide solutions for complex requests and/or items/issues and escalate for support as required utilizing a client-centric approach.
  • Maintenance of long-term document control and electronic reporting for all applicable tasks.
  • Complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently to ensure there is no negative impact that could result in losses for clients or the organization.
  • Provide direct support to the branch network, to enable them to deliver a “best in class” customer experience.
  • Regularly review SLA targets in collaboration with individual leader to ensure client needs are met.
  • Assist leaders in identifying gaps in standard operating procedures, provide recommendations for improvements and assist with documentation to drive consistent and predictable daily outcomes, and strong data integrity.

Problem Solving

  • Exercise critical thinking in analyzing wire requests submitted by branches to ensure they are accurate for posting.
  • Provide coaching to branches, peers, and indirectly clients, to help provide accurate inputs for Wires.
  • Proactively participate, share and exchange ideas in regards to potential procedure enhancements and best practices between management and peers

Operational Ownership

  • Participate in the build out and maintenance of the Center of Excellence with responsibility for supporting policies and procedures with relation to Wires.
  • Assist in the development of new or enhanced operational process changes specific to the Center of Excellence with a primary focus on operational processes and procedures.
  • Problem solve and provide recommendations for resolution of escalated questions or concerns related to Wires processes or client information as well as Center of Excellence internal interactions with both branches and other corporate departments.

Mandatories

  • Minimum 3-5 years of banking background, preferably in operations within banking and centralized or support centre.
  • Business Administration Diploma or higher-level post secondary education required (if less than 5 years experience).
  • Intermediate to advanced skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Experience in roles that involve high-value, high-risk payments as well as internal bank operations /administration processes and policy.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with excellent attention to details.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meeting tight deadlines with high attention to detail.
  • Strong social and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Sense of urgency when dealing with high-risk client files and a strong sense of confidentiality.
  • Inquisitive mind to improve efficiency and process.
  • Risk focused with good working knowledge of retail banking policies, procedures, laws, rules, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Experience with Banking Systems.
