This position is a part of the Non-Academic Staff Association (NASA).

**Location** - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. On-site work primarily takes place at Enterprise Square, Edmonton.

**Working for **Performance, Analytics and Institutional Research (PAIR)**

Performance, Analytics and Institutional Research is a dynamic and team centric environment, where client service, transparency and clarity is paramount.

The PAIR portfolio includes Information Management, Analytics and Data Warehousing (IMADW). It provides analysis and data management services to support university decision making, planning, and accountability reporting. The team produces customized Business Intelligence Reporting through the development of Reports and Dashboards sourced from the Institutional Data Warehouse (ACORN), which is built and maintained by IMADW.

**Working as an **Intermediate Research System Analyst**

Reporting to the Director, Data Operations, the Intermediate Research Systems Analyst will:

- Play a key technical role in the build and delivery of the Institutional Data Warehouse (IDW),

**Duties**

**Software Development**
- Designing and developing software; working with stakeholders to understand requirements and then designing software solutions. Writing code using various programming languages and frameworks.
- Testing software to ensure it meets quality standards. Debugging issues and making necessary changes to improve the software's functionality.
- Deploying software to production environments. Maintaining and updating software to ensure it remains functional and secure.
- Collaborating with other developers, designers, and stakeholders to create software solutions.
- Creating documentation for coding procedures, including manuals and user guides, to help users understand and use the software.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in software development.

**Data Profiling and Engineering**
- Gathering data from various sources and Profiling the data to determine its quality and cleanliness for the intended use.
- Using statistical methods and techniques to explore data, identify patterns, and derive insights.
- Implementing models into production environments and monitoring their performance over time.
- Working with stakeholders to understand business needs, present findings, and make recommendations based on data-driven insights.
- Designing and implementing data ingestion pipelines to transfer data from multiple domains such as Finance, Student, Staff, and Research from source systems into a RAW landing zone within the University Lakehouse in Azure.
- Understanding the data structure of source data and using Azure Data Factory (ADF) for efficient and repeatable data extraction.
- Developing processes to comply with our Medallion data lakehouse layers (raw, bronze, silver, gold) and transform raw data into cleansed, conformed data
- Working closely with data modelers, data analysts, and data scientists to understand their data needs and requirements. Ensuring that the data pipeline aligns with these needs and the overall data strategy of the organization.
