Logistics Coordinator

The Logistics Coordinator’s primary responsibility is the optimization of the logistics function for each applicable division in the Company (such as Human Nutrition, Health Ingredients, Personal Care, Industrial, CASE, Paper/Petroleum). The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for import/export logistics and for ensuring timely delivery to maintain necessary inventory levels. In addition, the Logistics Coordinator focuses on strengthening customer relationships to facilitate the achievement of divisional sales targets. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInternal Relationship Management – Communication with 3rd party service providers and colleagues to facilitate accurate ordersCommunicates with warehouses, customs brokers, and freight contacts when necessaryCommunicates with suppliers for the placement of ordersInteracts with Product Coordinators, Sales and Customer Service on a regular basis, to ensure timely delivery and accurate ordersCommunicates with Customer Service to notify of product arrival/availability and provide them with certificates of analysis and other necessary informationLiaises with the Accounting department for payment and product receiving issuesCommunicates with warehousing services to ensure proper receivingMeets with Management, Product Coordinators and Customer Service for updates on product and supplier InformationPrioritization/Task Management – Prioritizes workload and effectively uses tracking tools to ensure the timely delivery of ordersArranges and tracks domestic warehouse transfers as neededArranges and tracks direct shipments to customers as well as warehouse shipmentsArranges freight; correspondences with brokers and shipping lines to track shipments and help ensure on-time deliveryERP/System Control– Ensures data integrity in ERP system, and with supplier communicationsEnters, updates, and receives orders in the ERP SystemProcesses warehouse and intercompany transfersProblem Solving/Continuous Improvement – Problem solves when issues arise, and strives to implement continuous improvementRequests and follows up with NCR issues where applicable, such as creditsUses proper protocols, to address for non-conformance issue (NCRs)Uses problem solving skills and knowledge of the logistics function to provide updates to necessary departmentsDocumentation Management– Ensures accuracy in reviewing and creating product documentation and acts on discrepanciesUtilizes training to compare certificates of analysis, to product specification sheets for approvalObtains and checks CUSMA certificates where applicable for CUSMA qualifying productsAdheres to both WHIMIS and TDG guidelines to ensure correct documentation and labellingAccountable for obtaining required paperwork (OBL, PL, CCI, CofA, etc.)Arranges for blind and double- blind shipments where applicable; creates necessary documents such as manual bills of lading and packing slips.OtherSupport and lead by example, Barentz’ culture, strategies, pillars, and fundamentalsParticipate in ongoing personal development opportunitiesPerform other duties as requested Required Education, Experience, Knowledge and SkillsGrade 12 Secondary School Diploma; Post-secondary education is considered a strong asset2 -4 Years previous experience in Logistics requiredKnowledge of ERP systems is preferred, but not mandatoryTrained on WHMIS and TDG guidelines Highly analytical and detailed oriented Strong organization skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlinesStrong problem solving and analytical skillsExcellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills, with preference for bilingualismSelf-motivated, high energy, and engaging level of enthusiasm and positive outlookSoftware knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TeamsAct legally and ethically in all professional relationships in adherence with Barentz’ values and fundamentalsSpecial training may be required to ensure product hazards are identified and risk of exposure is mitigated
