Job Summary

Dorman Products is seeking an experienced Technical Trainer on an as-needed basis to support the execution of technical training programs in Canada. You'll be instructing automotive techs and service professionals, in both English and French, on topics covering many of today's advanced automotive systems including driver assistance, diagnostics, emission, and complex electronics. Most trainings will be roughly three hours long in a classroom style setting. You may also conduct one to two hour long webinars. Primary Duties

  • Conducts technical training programs in English and French
  • Supports curriculum updates as instructed by Training Director
  • Maintains a high level of competence and expertise in field by studying available information, attending train-the-trainer sessions, doing hands-on work, taking appropriate online or live classes, involvement in automotive training-related groups, etc.
  • Prepares extensively for classes and provides outstanding delivery, professional interaction with students, and subject matter presentations using adult learning principles.
  • Assist in the continued development and improvement of all program documentation, training, communications and materials.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 50% travel required, including overnight travel
  • Physical Requirement : Capability to lift 20 pounds
  • Working Conditions : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.

Education or Experience

  • Technical background in the automotive space
  • 5+ years of experience conducting adult learning programs

Principales responsabilités

  • Diriger les programmes de formation technique en anglais et en français
  • Soutien des mises à jour au programme tel qu'indiqué par le directeur de formation
  • Maintiens d’un niveau élevé de compétences et d’expertise de marché en étudiant l’information disponible, en participant aux sessions de formation pour le formateur, en faisant du travail pratique, en suivant des classes appropriées en ligne ou en classe, en interagissant avec des groupes reliés à la formation automobile, etc.
  • Préparation intensive pour les classes et atteinte de résultats remarquables, interaction professionnelle avec les étudiants, et présentations de matière en utilisant des principes d’apprentissage pour adultes.
  • Assistance dans le développement et l’amélioration continus de la documentation de tous les programmes, de la formation, des communications et du matériel.
  • Autres tâches assignées.

Qualifications :

  • 50% déplacement exigé, incluant voyages avec nuitées.
  • Exigences physiques : capable de soulever 20 lb.
  • Conditions de travail : dans l’exécution des tâches de ce poste, l’employé doit régulièrement tendre les bras, pivoter, transporter des articles d’une place à l’autre, parler et faire preuve d’écoute active. Le niveau de bruit est normalement modéré.

Éducation ou expérience :

  • Antécédents techniques en automobile
  • 5 années ou plus d’expérience en direction de programmes d’apprentissage pour adultes
