HYBRID – 3 days in Toronto office


Description:

The Alternative Investments Operations and Control Oversight Group resides within our Global Alternative Investment Operations team. It primarily functions to assess the operating and control environment across Alternative Asset Operations functions and drive transformative change while maintaining a robust and risk-mitigating control structure.


The Controls Oversight Analyst within this team supports our business partners in the Global Alternative Investment Operations team with the design of financial reporting controls and collaborates with internal and external auditors to ensure that the audits of the Company’s financial statements (including Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and Model Audit Rule (MAR)) go smoothly.


The team is an advisor to many functional areas and project teams within the division, helping to navigate considerations related to risk management, controls, and audits. The candidate will work alongside a team of seasoned professionals with backgrounds in accounting, operations, audit, and consulting.


The Controls Oversight Analyst will execute control consulting projects, support external audits and regulatory examinations of the business, and manage the closure process for previously-identified gaps in internal control. In doing so, the candidate will have an opportunity to work with business leaders to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of internal controls and related processes.


As a result, this role is best suited to an internal control professional with strong relationship management, customer service, communication and influencing skills. The incumbent will inspire team members with a positive attitude and serve as a role model and mentor for peers and junior team members by sharing knowledge and providing honest and timely feedback.


Bachelor’s degree in accounting / finance Required.


Brief Overview:

Experience with audit controls and be able to support controls activity, including internal and external audits. Including, working with the business to procure samples, talk with auditors around potential issues, manage communication between risk teams and the business.


Help manage process of creating and updating risk/compliance assessments.

Technology:

Archer – preferred but not required.

Insurance and Financial services industry background preferred but not required.


International: experience is ok, but Canada and USA are preferred.


Dealbreakers: Candidates with compliance/risk experience but not specifically within finance compliance/risk related.


Required:

  • 3-5 years’ experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance /accounting.


Nice to have:

Certifications: FRM or CPA is good, but not required.
