Job Description

Oil and Gas Technical Operator

·        i3 Energy Canada has an excellent opportunity for an experienced multi-skilled full time Contract Technical Operator for our North District. Reporting to the Production Foreman, the successful candidate will be able to work independently, exercise judgement in the selection of work methods and be able to work closely with a multi-disciplinary work team. This position requires a full working knowledge of all oil and gas production facilities, wells with multiple forms of artificial lift including plunger lift, gas lift, insert pumps (conventional and hydraulic) and ESP’s. The successful candidate will be required to work a 5&2 shift and must be willing to be on call and work extra hours when required. Travel throughout the North District will be required. The candidate will be required to reside in the Grande Prairie, Ab or Valleyview, Ab area.

 

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

·        Environment, Health & Safety must be a priority.

·        Support and initiate safe work practices, following all i3 Energy Canada policies and procedures.

·        Assist in well and facility optimization and consolidation projects including reactivating wells, facilities, and pipelines.

·        Supervise minor well workovers, ground disturbance activities and maintenance projects.

·        Assist in maintaining regulatory compliance throughout the operating area.

·        Provide holiday coverage as required for the day-to-day operation of wells, pipelines and processing facilities and report any deficiencies or operational issues to the Production Foreman.

·        Participate and follow compliance initiatives including the MOC process, Pipeline Operating and Maintenance Manual and the Pressure Equipment Integrity Management Program.

·        Keep all wells and facilities in a safe, clean, and compliant condition and report all deficiencies to the Production Foreman.

·        Complete minor maintenance activities; pump repairs, packing changes, orifice plate inspections, well/facility inspections, and other tasks in an operator’s scope.

·        Ensure operations are carried out in a cost-effective manner.

·        Identify deficiencies and recommend corrections to existing procedures to ensure performance standards are being met.

·        Contribute to meeting business, environmental and health and safety targets.

·        Take a leadership role in well startups, reactivations, and new pad commissioning.

·        Ensure that all scheduled maintenance is completed on time.

 

Qualifications

·        Minimum 10+ years of oil and gas operating experience.

·        Experience with gas lift, ESP, insert pumps, plunger systems, sweetening skids, gas compression and refrigeration plants is required.

·        Experience with implementing and managing area consolidation and reactivation projects would be considered an asset.

·        Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.

·        Must have all applicable safety tickets.

·        Possess excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

·        Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work in an unsupervised work environment. Must be flexible and adaptable to changing work environments.

·        Strong mechanical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

·        Strong computer skills (proficient in MS Office Suite).

·        Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license – drivers abstract is required.
