The Role:  

As a Designer at Coeuraj you will be a part of a consulting practice team who delivers collaborative solutions and processes to our clients. While our team of Designers have a common baseline of skills and abilities that support the delivery of consulting projects with our clients, each have their own discipline interest and specialization in their role such as: collaborative design, facilitation, systems thinking and research, experience design, graphic design, behavioral and data science. For this Designer role, we are looking for someone who possesses graphic and visual design capabilities to join our growing team.   

This role will apply your graphic design skills and creative visualization abilities to bring our work to life and enable insights with our clients. Our journeys with our clients look different depending on what kind of problem space we are working in, but one thing they all have in common is the need for inspiring visual design. Whether it’s inputs for an in-person co-design workshop (we call them sessions), a set of data visualizations, a virtual Miro-whiteboard space, a report, or a custom presentation or proposal deck, we take pride in our thoughtful print and web assets when it comes to using visual design and storytelling to spark ideas and generate new insights.  

Alongside supporting the consulting team with creative and visual assets this Designer role will be expected to provide delivery support on projects with our client so interest and experience working in consulting and/or facilitation is beneficial. This role will also support in-person delivery of co-design sessions as required. An applicant who has an interest in developing their artistic talents in mediums like graphic recording and graphic facilitation is an asset for session delivery.   

This role has a number of opportunities for growth and advancement in the organization, either within visual and creative design, or within the consulting practice as a practitioner.   

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:  

You will work closely with others on your team, in particular other Designers, Senior Designers, Project Managers, and Directors- who steward the overall project journey and consultancy. You will have discrete accountability for designing deliverables and processes within project deliveries.   

As a Designer, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of client work by:  

•  Supporting the design and delivery of custom visual assets that may include:  
• Documents, presentations, reports, and proposals (using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and the Microsoft suite of tools)  
• Visual aids such as models or data visualizations  
• Virtual workspaces on Miro   
• Various branded assets for client projects and co-design session delivery  
• Additional printed and web assets as required  
• Supporting with day-to-day consulting practice tasks on projects, including:  
• Capturing client discussions and synthesizing them to actional insights and next steps  
• Supporting project team members with the design and delivery of facilitated modules of activities as part of meetings or stand-alone sessions  
• Supporting with general research and reporting as required  
• Supporting project participants to engage with asynchronous activities (e.g., Miro, surveys, pre-session assignments etc.)  
• Supporting the in-person delivery of co-design sessions in the role of a “Knowledge Worker”* which includes baseline competency with regards to the following roles on a session:  
• Environment- Supporting the creation and maintenance of a physical or virtual environment that aligns with the goals of the session  
• Visuals and Inputs- Creation of visual assets pre, during and post session delivery   
• Writing and Outputs- Supporting the team with written assets as required and capturing outputs from a session, ensuring they are easy to use for any output creation by the internal team, and are easy to access by the client   
• Technology- Supporting the virtual workspace (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Miro navigation, etc.)  for online delivery, and working knowledge of basic technology tools required for in-person deliveries  

The term Knowledge Worker is used in our practice at Coeuraj to identify team members who may be a part of a session delivery team that comes together to create a unique and transformative experience for our clients in a collaborative design journey. Knowledge Worker roles vary depending on the client and context. Some Knowledge Workers eventually come to specialize in a specific area of interest (such as graphic facilitation, front of room facilitation, process facilitation) but all can perform a baseline set of tasks to enable the successful delivery of a co-design event.   

What You Offer:  

• Two to four years’ experience in a related creative agency or consulting role;  
• Experienced with a range of technology and graphic design tools, including Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, the Adobe Creative Suite, and Miro;    
• Creativity and willingness to bring art and design to our projects and in-person work environments;  
• Experience in working in remote environments, with cross functional teams, across multiple projects at once;  
• Willingness to work across a range of sectors—including municipal, provincial and Federal governments, First Nations communities and organizations, non-profits, and multinational, private sector corporations;  
• Interest in both systems thinking and collaborative design approaches; and  
• You are willing and able to work when and where are clients are – meaning the occasional early morning and/or late evening, and some event-based travel.

The salary range for this position is $65 - 75K, commensurate with experience.

While we are a remote company, there is a preference for applicants residing in Victoria, Vancouver or Toronto.
