TIER1 Automotive Manufacturer is seeking to hire a Lead R&D Engineer



We are seeking an innovative and driven R&D Engineer to join our team and contribute to advancements in the automotive industry. The ideal candidate will focus on research and development of new materials, processes, and technologies related to steel and aluminum automotive components. Experience with automotive fluid systems and a solid understanding of the patent process are valuable assets. The candidate should be skilled in Unigraphics (NX) or SolidWorks to design and develop solutions that push the boundaries of automotive innovation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the research, development, and implementation of new technologies in automotive materials and processes, with a focus on steel and aluminum parts.
  • Design and develop innovative components and systems using Unigraphics (NX) or SolidWorks.
  • Drive the innovation process by developing new materials and manufacturing techniques that enhance performance, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and manufacturing, to integrate new technologies into products.
  • Work on automotive fluid systems, contributing to the development of components that improve system performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, materials research, and automotive technology innovations.
  • Manage the patent process, ensuring that new developments and technologies are appropriately protected.
  • Conduct materials testing, simulations, and validation to ensure components meet industry standards and performance criteria.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, driving the optimization of materials, processes, and designs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience in R&D within the automotive industry, with a focus on steel and aluminum components.
  • Proficiency in Unigraphics (NX) or SolidWorks for product design and development.
  • Strong understanding of automotive fluid systems is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the patent process and experience with intellectual property management.
  • Ability to develop and validate new materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with automotive material standards and testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with emerging automotive technologies and sustainability practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
