RBC Borealis is seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Research Lead to spearhead the development of cutting-edge AI-based products for the financial services industry. This key role will provide strategic leadership and direction to a team of machine learning researchers and engineers, driving the effectiveness of the team to deliver high-value business outcomes through the application of AI.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and productize innovative AI approaches and novel intellectual property to drive business impact through research and development;
  • Engage with business partners to define AI solutions that meet business needs, working closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and develop effective solutions;
  • Provide technical leadership and scientific guidance to applied research projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and progress;
  • Foster a culture of innovation and growth, mentoring and leading a group of researchers and engineers to develop their skills and make meaningful contributions to RBC Borealis' research and development efforts;
  • Establish and promote Borealis as a thought leader in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning, contributing to the company's reputation and visibility.
Requirements:
  • A Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent qualifications;
  • 5+ years of experience in leading high-impact machine learning solutions in a product-centric environment;
  • Proven track record of managing high-performing teams of researchers, data scientists, and engineers to deliver machine learning (ML) projects and solutions;
  • Proven experience across the entire research and development lifecycle, from concept prototyping to production-ready solutions, with a strong ability to engage with stakeholders to understand business needs and develop tailored solutions;
  • Exceptional communication skills;
  • Strong foundation in machine learning (ML) concepts, including a deep understanding of ML algorithms, architectures, and techniques.
