About the Role:

The Grower Services Field Team Manager is responsible for creating a preference for grower to sign supply contracts with Maple Lodge Farms, purchase Maple Lodge hatchery chicks and deliver high quality birds for slaughter to Maple Lodge Farms. Manage field-based Grower Services Account Management and Technician Teams that deliver on a defined grower service consultative selling and service program.

What you will be doing:

  • Accountable for the execution of sign up and related incentive program for all broiler chickens processed, estimated at $350M
  • Accountable for the people management, alignment and successful execution of grower services program for broiler farmers for both account manager team and technician team
  • Aiding/supporting in strong alignment and coordination between the Maple Lodge Farms hatchery, breeder, animal welfare, catching, live haul and processing operations
  • Attending industry functions and meetings from time to time to promote Maple Lodge Farms
  • Management of grower services account manager and field technician team. Executing daily and weekly team calls, one on one coaching and performance reviews. Organizing a sound cadence of meeting communication
  • Responsible for the alignment and achievement of KPI’s related to grower services and live broiler programs as well as related financials. Driving forward on key strategic execution as needed and supported by Director
  • Responsible for support on budgeting and achievement of target expenses
  • Support grower services field team on negotiations of broiler grower claims and flock support – handling approx. 800K work of claims yearly
  • Provides direct management of a team or business area providing formal and informal feedback to ensure continuous development of the team members and contribution to the achievement of Maple Lodge Farms business strategy
  • Establish goals and priorities and manage the activities and work of subordinates. Evaluate their performance by providing feedback to ensure that all work is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance with individual set targets
  • Responsible for all aspects of Human Resources functions for team including hiring, onboarding, performance management and disciplinary matters
  • Develop team capabilities through continue on-the-job and formal training opportunities and coaching
  • Frequent travel to farms across Ontario is required


What you will bring:

  • Post Secondary Diploma in Business Management/Agriculture or a related field
  • Minimum five years of industry experience required, including a minimum of three years in a Supervisory/Management role;
  • Knowledge of breed, health and technical aspect of bird management
  • Understanding of animal slaughter requirements and processes
  • Understanding of fundamental biosecurity practices
  • Team-player with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success in building strong, collaborative teams, setting stretch objectives, and holding people accountable for commitments with a track record of delivering favorable results;
  • Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;
  • Ability to work / excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
  • General Computer Skills (e.g. MS Office)
  • A valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract
