Hardline Engineering is currently looking for a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Program Manager, Interconnections, the Power Systems Engineer will closely work with the power systems teams to support and/or lead ongoing projects as well as business development and proposal support with a variety of clients including renewable developers, transmission owner/developers as well as utilities.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform load flow, short circuit, arc flash, harmonics and stability analysis using industry-standard software tools.
  • Perform TRV, TOV/ effective grounding, insulation coordination and substation grounding studies.
  • Perform network level studies (N-0, N-1, transient stability) and model development for renewable projects.
  • Perform congestion assessments and sensitivity studies for the renewable assets.
  • Design and analyze power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution components.
  • Develop and implement engineering solutions to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, reports, and presentations.
  • Conduct site assessments and oversee the installation and commissioning of power systems.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Stay current with industry trends, standards, and technological advancements in power systems.
  • Perform power system studies related to interconnection to ensure compliance with interconnection requirements as well as NERC standards.
  • Support system studies project(s) throughout the whole lifecycle (i.e. from the technical bid/proposal to execution, reports, client meetings/presentations, to close-out).
  • Contribute to the delivery of projects, delivering on time and to budget.
  • Work closely with the team members across North America and globally.
  • Work with different types of customers including renewable developers, utilities, and ISOs/RTOs.
  • Participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder forums and other technical committees such as IEEE or CIGRE.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering from a program accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board.
  • M.Sc or PHD in power systems is an asset.
  • Registered with APEGA as a Professional Engineer or equivalent Canadian professional agency required.
  • PE license is considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering, including experience with design, analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives.
  • Proficiency with PSSE, PS-CAD and ETAP is required.
  • Proficiency with CDEG, CYMCAP, Power factory considered an asset
  • P&C or Substation design experience considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with tight timelines.
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, strong client focus and results driven.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with internal and external customers, stakeholders and co-workers.
  • Excellent organizational skills that demonstrates the ability to resolve conflicting priorities.
