Mainframe Systems Architect- Z-Series

We are seeking a a Mainframe Systems Architect to join our team.


Location: This role can be located within proximity to a CGI office.


Responsibilities:


  • Involved in the architectural design, installation, propagation, maintenance, and support of z/OS and related software products on centralized zSeries servers.
  • Master the tools of centralized zSeries servers, including JCL, Scheduler, operation, automation, storage, printing, and incident management processes.
  • Ensure optimal performance of the systems and monitor various components to maintain system health.
  • Support daily systems maintenance activities, performing problem determination and resolution as necessary.
  • Diagnose complex problems, propose and implement tailored solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Manage service requests and reported problems, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical procedures and solutions documentation.
  • Provide functional analysis for new requirements and service offerings, driving continuous improvement.
  • Develop solutions to enhance processes related to client support, optimizing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coach and mentor colleagues, fostering knowledge sharing and professional growth.
  • Participate in audits and Disaster Recovery tests to ensure compliance and readiness.
  • Provide on-call support as scheduled to address critical system issues.


Required Qualifications:


  • Extensive experience in design, installing, configuring, administering, and tuning various mainframe technologies and products.
  • Proficiency in z/OS, JES2 products, Storage, Monitors, automation, security (RACF/TSS/ACF2), Sysplex, and testing/debugging tools.
  • Preferred knowledge of IBM mainframe products such as CICS, IMS, JCL, Rexx, ISPF, and OMVS.
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL), application servers (Java or .NET), and middleware.
  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and analysis purposes.
