The Work

The Lead Quality Engineer is a key member of the team responsible for supporting the planning, design, and execution of software testing activities within Equitable Bank. Reporting to the Manager of Quality Engineering, the QE Lead will work collaboratively within the IT department and with other business units to ensure product quality and end-to-end testing with TEMENOS integration including API, middleware and microservices. The QE Lead will work closely with T24 team and support testing phases including test case authoring, maintenance, and execution of functional, integration and regression test suites and the development of test data as well as work to establish testing standards over a period for the newly created team. The QE Lead will also be responsible for the comprehensive analysis and reporting of defects, supporting root cause investigation, tracking and resolution.

The Core Responsibilities

  • Assess business requirements for Digital Banking enhancements or Product Launches under a technical and functional lens and provide relevant feedback
  • Interact with internal stakeholders by reviewing technical and integration requirement documents as well as functional/technical specification documents
  • Define comprehensive and structured test strategy and test plans for all initiatives
  • Design detailed test cases based on the requirements and test plan
  • Develop test tools and test scripts to automate the testing
  • Configure and maintain automated test suites within CI/CD pipelines, ensuring they execute efficiently and consistently
  • Lead and mentor quality team and provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Work with the QE Manager in the planning, estimation, prioritization, and monitoring, of the testing activities ensuring all deliverables are met as agreed
  • Prepare testing progress statuses on a timely basis and communicate to the appropriate audience
  • Timely escalation of quality related issues to the QE manager
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of test documentation, processes, and test tools
  • Follow prescribed change control procedures, making sure all changes are properly documented, approved, and communicated
  • Lead configuration and set up of testing environments in coordination with vendors and IT
  • Lead testing artifacts reviews with the project team
  • Support UAT activities with business units as required
  • Deliver training, guidance, and support to QA team

Let's Talk About You

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Software Quality Assurance with proven experience leading large testing effort initiatives preferable in the financial services industry
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with UI & API Automation
  • Understanding of Microservice Architecture
  • UI and API Automation framework such as Selenium Webdriver and BDD –Cucumber and Postman/JavaScript
  • Mobile Automation framework such as Appium
  • Understanding of Java, JavaScript and the ability to write code from scratch
  • Engineering practices such as DevOps tools and process (Azure DevOps), Source code and version management (GIT), service virtualization (Parasoft/Smartbear/Wiremock), API Log analysis and monitoring tools (Kibana/Splunk)
  • Experience writing SQL statements and database testing skills
  • Experience working on Integration testing and Releases
  • University Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical degree or equivalent experience is required
  • Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools and processes is required
  • Experience supporting load and performance, functional security and automated functional testing is required
  • Previous experience testing one or more of the following are required: online & mobile channels, middleware applications and core banking systems
  • Thorough understanding of SDLC and its best practices for both Waterfall (phased testing) and Agile models (in-sprint testing)
  • Good understanding of Scrum/Agile software development process

  • Strong skills in using JIRA + Confluence + Zephyr
  • Experience working with Test Data management tools such as Delphix/CA TDM
  • Previous experience working with Lending Origination and Core Banking Systems such as Temenos, PortfolioPlus and Cyberquery
