Director of Procurement - Merchandising


Summary

Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the Category Manager is accountable for the merchandising strategy for FIKA Cannabis and Ganjika House retail shops. This role is responsible for ensuring the best product, price & placement in the cannabis retail space. Including promotional planning, forecasting, assortment planning, competitive analysis, and delivering to KPI targets.


Additionally, this position will be a part of a best-in-class merchandising team known for their passion and knowledge of the industry. Collectively and individually, the team will contribute to other merchandising-related tasks as needed

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing:

  • Assortment planning for cannabis & accessories including purchasing and pricing decisions.
  • Determine appropriate SKU count by category, sub-category, and consumer trends.
  • Adding new cannabis, accessory, and merch items into Greenline; under correct category identification and ensuring notes, pricing, and activation of product.
  • Setting parameters for sales, discounts, combos, and LTO’s for all shop levels and tiers accurately, on time, and with proper end dates when applicable.
  • Managing any changes to pricing, sales, discounts, combos, and LTO’s to ensure correct pricing for all products whenever changes or end of program occur.
  • Dutchie – Ensure sales, promos, LTO’s line up with offerings from GL.
  • Dutchie – Product name and category allocation auditing (performed by SM, DM, and CM).
  • Markdowns/managing aged inventory.
  • Shop transfers of product- Creating accurate PO’s for transfers of cannabis or accessories, ensuring all cannabis products are eligible for transfer (ie: same ROL)
  • Ensure relevant and compelling assortments to provide our guests

Communication:

  • Manage positive vendor relationships.
  • Ongoing communications with key account manager/customer service from the OCS & AGCO.
  • Ongoing communications with key account manager/support team from Greenline.
  • Support regular promotions through vendor partnerships as well as margin-accretive allowances that adhere to the company’s strategic priorities.
  • Communicate regularly with relevant cross-functional departments.
  • Incorporate shop feedback and communicate with operations.
  • Support with delivering compelling and relevant promotions during key times to drive sales and GP

Data/Analytics:

  • Understanding market share.
  • Deliver and maintain gross margin targets by category.
  • Manage overall budgets with finance team, as well as setting weekly OTB dollars.
  • Forecasting and forecast accuracy.
  • Identify and leverage market and consumer trends.
  • Suggest and influence inventory targets by category and shop.
  • Competitive analysis.


Working Environment

Location: This position is Hybrid, typically working 2 days from the FIKA office or on site at a FIKA company store, and 3 days working from home.


Hours: The role is Full-Time and is expected to work Monday-Friday on a regular basis; however, weekend or evening work may be required on occasion to support store operations.


Typical workday: As the Category Manager, you will hold a variety of responsibilities. Every day/week will be slightly different, based on the current functions and needs of the business. You will regularly connect with store leaders to discuss retail store needs and connect with exterior vendors to maintain/develop partnerships. It is expected that you can prioritize your responsibilities and reach out for support when needed.
