POSITION SUMMARY:

The position is responsible for managing the Quality functions within the Shawflex division of the Connection Technologies Group including managing systems (ISO 9001, Nuclear management system- N299.2 and NQA-1/10CFR50 App. B), maintaining compliance to regulatory standards (CSA, UL, etc.), managing inspection/laboratory functions, managing both internal and external Quality performance, and driving Quality mindset. The Quality Manager has a direct influence on the Continuous Improvement culture by utilizing Mattr Management System (MMS), Lean, Six Sigma and other world class methodologies. The position is a key member of the senior management team for Shawflex.

DUTIES:

Quality

• Provide leadership in the pursuit of “Utopian (Perfect) Quality” • Maintain ISO, N299 and NQA-1 compliant quality management systems including chairing management reviews, managing a strong internal and external auditing function and acting as Quality Management Representative (QMR) in the organization

• Represent Shawflex in all quality issues with both internal and external parties (Customers, Nuclear Utilities, Sales/Marketing, CSA, UL, Suppliers, etc).

• Develop, implement and maintain corrective & preventive action programs to address customer quality problems and internal non-conformances, including delegating relevant tasks to various departments.

• Manage laboratory staff and inspection/audit capabilities to support business plans.

• Become the key driving force for reducing the cost of quality and improving customer satisfaction.

• Oversee supplier quality management process including supplier selection, supplier performance

• Act as escalation point for Nuclear quality issues and concerns

• Oversee all quality management systems and processes including NCR, corrective action report, customer complaints, document management, calibration system

• Accountable for quality metrics/KPIs for the organization including regular (monthly, quarterly, annual) reporting and performance improvement

• Support projects including new product development/launch requiring quality oversight

Continuous Improvement (CI)

• Improve and streamline quality processes and systems through digitization and process management • Coach and mentor teams on continuous improvement

• Develop effective training development programs for Quality

• Develop a strong problem-solving culture

• Develop internal audit function for self-assessment

• Develop a strong supplier management system

• Support the continuous improvement and scaling up of the Nuclear order execution process

Business Administration

• Prepare annual department Fixed Cost and Capital Spending budgets • Provide input into strategic and capital plans

• Maintain performance reporting and management systems (monthly reports, SuccessFactors, etc.)

• Support sales goals and initiatives through interaction with internal and external groups

• Complete performance appraisals and salary administration for all staff

• Coach, mentor and develop team members personally and professionally through mentoring, coaching and training

• Ensure Mattr operational and financial standards (Bill 198, NDA, etc.), as related to Quality are deployed and maintained

Others

• Support the vision of an IIF (Injury and Incident Free) culture and implementation of the HSE Management System


REQUIREMENTS:

- Holding Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

- Minimum 5 years of related experience including 3 years in leadership role

- Strong working experience with ISO 9001 management systems is required

- Internal Auditor Certification is required

- Lean Six Sigma Certification is required

- Deep understanding of lean and continuous improvement principles

- Strong experience using MS Office, ERP System, and QMS.

- Highly developed analytical and problem

- Solving skills with specific experience with A3, 8D, 5 Why and other problem-solving techniques

- Familiar with N299, NQA-1, AS9100, IATF16949 - an asset

- Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Quality Manager - an asset

- Lead auditor certification/training - an asset

- Understanding of CSA & UL standards

- Previous supervision/management experience of lab operations and managing Quality personnel

- Strong Leadership skills

- Strong Statistical Analysis capabilities

- Exceptional training and facilitation skills
