Client: Canadian women’s fashion retailer


Role Overview:

As the Sr. Business Analyst, you will act as a key link between business needs and IT solutions. Requiring strong business process knowledge, analytical skills, and effective communication, you will collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will help develop and implement IT solutions that support the organization's strategic objectives.

What will you be doing?

  • Provide guidance and knowledge throughout the project or product lifecycle to ensure success.
  • Act as a leader in agile meetings and ceremonies, demonstrating confidence and inspiring trust in team members as well as stakeholders.
  • Participate actively in strategic decision discussions and provide valuable insight to business partners.
  • Show quick reactiveness to issues and collaborate with the team to offer resolutions to both technical and functional issues.


Requirements Gathering and Analysis:

  • Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to understand and document requirements.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of business processes and systems to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with product owners by actively working together to identify challenges.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with project managers and other stakeholders.
  • Produce key documentation for the initiatives. Some examples include:

-Data flow diagram

-Action log

-Requirements with full acceptance criteria

-Change log

-Pre-Cutover / Cutover plan

-Post Go-Live validation plan


Solution Design:

  • Develop and propose innovative IT solutions that address business challenges.
  • Work closely with architects and developers to ensure the feasibility and effectiveness of proposed solutions.


Data Analysis and Modeling:

  • Utilize data analysis techniques to extract meaningful insights and inform decision-making.
  • Develop data models to support business intelligence and reporting requirements.


Communication and Stakeholder Management:

  • Effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business users, IT teams, and other relevant stakeholders.


Quality Assurance:

  • Collaborate with QA teams to ensure that developed solutions meet business requirements and are of high quality.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing and facilitate resolution of identified issues.


Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the IT organization.
  • Help troubleshoot production issues and act as level 3 support for products when needed.


Qualifications and competencies:

  • Retail experience / knowledge;
  • At least 3 to 5 years of Business Analysis experience on medium-large scale IT projects;
  • Initiative – ability to be a proactive self-starter who takes the initiative to identify problems, propose solutions, and implement actions without constant supervision;
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent activities autonomously and with minimal supervision or guidance;
  • Ownership – strong ability to assume responsibility, accountability, and proactive involvement in tasks or projects.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with key stakeholders to identify business process activities as well as business requirements;
  • Ability to question the status quo and seek innovative ways to optimize processes;
  • Solid organizational and time management skills; Technical skills: Comfortable working with Jira / Confluence; Knowledge of Business Process Modeling; Understanding of ERP systems and structure; Understanding of hardware, networks, and relational databases
