Greater Toronto Area, Canada Green Infrastructure Partners Full time

Reporting to the Senior Fleet Safety Advisor, the Fleet Safety Advisor will support the Fleet Safety Team by providing boots-on-the-ground CVOR/NSC Compliance & Education supporting cross-Canada operations and liaising between the Fleet Operations Team, Corporate HSE Team and Operations Teams.

Key Responsibilities include :


  • Subject matter expert and main point of contact for CVOR, NSC, Provincial Highway Traffic Acts, Regulations, Federal Law and GIP Policies and Procedures as they relate to Transportation Safety.
  • Ensure that drivers understand and adhere to all Fleet Safety legislation and company policies.
  • Conduct post-incident debriefs, assign corrective actions and provide re-training as necessary.
  • Conduct pre-hire driver evaluations to determine competencies.
  • Conduct field observations or ride-a-longs with written assessments/feedback/re-certification to the driver and management.
  • Carry out proactive yard visits and audit drivers’ documentation and required safety items to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct site and shop audits to ensure all required documentation that relates to drivers, vehicles and maintenance is up to date and meets all CVOR & MVIS requirements.
  • Monitor drivers Hours of Service on GeoTab Drive ELD system and conduct coaching moments to both drivers and operations to reduce violations.
  • Maintain driver files in compliance with CVOR and Insurance requirements, including maintaining a Fleet Drivers List and CVOR Drivers List. Is responsible for uploading and filing all documentation and training specific to drivers and fleet into the Flex system.
  • Conduct adequate on-scene and tabletop collision investigations and write reports for all major vehicle collisions.
  • Develop and maintain all Fleet Safety related training content.


Position Requirements:


  • 1+ years of experience as a Driver Trainer or Fleet Safety Professional is needed.
  • Extensive overnight travel on a regular basis.
  • Ability to drive long distances on a regular basis.
  • Extensive knowledge of CVOR, NSC, HTA, TDG, NSC Standards.
  • Collision Investigation Course would be an asset.
  • Proven experience teaching Fleet Safety training courses.
  • Well-developed computer skills, including using Excel to create charts & graphs and Power Point for course and presentation creation.
  • Experience with GeoTab GPS / ELD systems would be considered an asset.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication, both verbal and written.
  • Comfortable teaching class sizes up to 50 people.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and climb in, out and under commercial vehicles.
  • Results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outcome-focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyze and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business.
  • Ability to connect and interact with people to seek different perspectives.
