ROLE OVERVIEW
This position will be responsible for compiling technical information to support applications for regulatory authorizations required to advance construction of the Rook I Project (“Project”). The role involves close collaboration with a diverse range of Project team members including, but not limited to, engineering, procurement, and construction management to ensure regulatory applications are comprehensive and compliant with all applicable local, provincial, and federal regulations. The Permitting Coordinator will play a critical role in Project planning, navigating the regulatory landscape, mitigating risks, and ensuring the timely progression of the Project.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)
- Review proposed scopes of work and procurement packages to develop regulatory authorization strategies and identify information needs;
- Compile technical and management system information required for applications for regulatory approvals;
- Track application commitments and approval conditions to demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations;
- Provide support in maintaining regulatory authorization in the Project schedule;
- Participate in meetings with regulatory bodies to facilitate the permitting process and address any issues or concerns;
- Monitor regulatory changes and identify potential impacts to the Project construction and operation.
- Attend meetings with local communities, and other stakeholders to discuss permitting requirements and progress.
- Maintain accurate records of all permit applications, regulatory correspondence, regulatory approvals.
- Prepare reports and documentation to demonstrate compliance with approval conditions and regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential permitting risks and develop mitigations strategies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
- Minimum of –5 - 10 years of experience in permitting or regulatory compliance, preferably within Saskatchewan and the uranium mining and milling sector.
- Ability to understand and distill technical information (e.g., technical specifications, engineering drawings).
- Experience working with Indigenous communities is considered an asset.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
LOCATION
This position will be based at the Saskatoon office with periodic travel to the Project site.
