Your New Role
As the Team Lead - Manager of Power Systems and Utilities Engineering, you will oversee the Power Systems and Utilities Engineering team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical solutions for clients. This role combines leadership, technical expertise, and business acumen to drive project success and team growth. You will also fulfill the responsibilities of a Senior Engineer in Power Systems and Utilities, providing guidance and support to the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management (30-40% of the time)
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve team and project goals
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless project execution
- Evaluate team performance and provide constructive feedback and development opportunities
Technical Design and Engineering (40-50% of time)
- Oversee the design and implementation of power systems, including medium and low voltage distribution systems, substations, and generation stations
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, Fire Code, and Building Code
- Conduct feasibility studies, system assessments, and technical documentation (e.g., specifications, bills of materials, inspection plans, and reports)
- Lead the design and replacement of switchgear and other critical electrical components
Project Management (15-25% of time)
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
- Coordinate project billing cycles and ensure all project management tasks are completed
- Prepare and review documentation for site plan approvals, building permits, and compliance testing
- Participate in quality assurance processes, including design verification and validation
Project Administration (10-20% of time)
- Provide full-cycle engineering support during installation, commissioning, and project close-out
- Maintain accurate project records, including change notices, addendums, site visit reports, and RFIs
- Ensure all project administration tasks are completed efficiently and accurately

Education/Qualifications
- University Degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory)
- A valid P.Eng. designation in the Province of Ontario is an asset.
- Experience with AutoCAD and ETAP is required.
Technical Expertise Required
- Extensive experience and understanding of power system design and engineering
- Proficiency in medium and low voltage systems, switchgear design, and electrical feasibility studies
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards

- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience managing teams or projects
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Collaborative and open to teamwork
