As the Data Governance Specialistyou will report directly to the Data Management and Governance Lead and play a pivotal role in supporting the development and execution of the organization's Data Management and Governance practice. Your focus will be on establishing data governance frameworks, policies, and practices while leveraging industry-leading data governance tools such as Microsoft Purview, Informatica, Unity Catalog, Collibra, and others. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance data governance, data quality, and compliance practices, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry standards.
Responsibilities:
Consulting Responsibilities: You will be responsible for the following
• Account Management: Be one of the key points of contact with the client, proactively manage the client relationship and expectations, identify and implement ways to continuously improve the client experience to ultimately delight the client.
• Data Governance Framework Development: Assist in designing and implementing data governance frameworks and operating models based on industry standards such as DAMA, DCAM, and DGI Data Governance Framework.
• Data Governance Policy Management: Collaborate with the Data Management and Governance Lead to develop, document, and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures tailored to organizational needs.
• Data Governance Regulation: Research, understand, enforce, and monitor relevant data protection regulations, ensuring all policies comply with local, national, and international regulations
• Data Governance Assessment: Conduct and review the latest DG assessment and use the findings to prioritize data governance focus areas.
• Data Stewardship Program: Assist in review and establish a tailored data stewardship program, including roles and responsibilities for data stewards.
• Data Quality Management: Define and support data quality management practices, including data profiling, monitoring, and remediation plans. Collaborate with business and technical teams to resolve data quality issues effectively.
• Data Cataloguing: Assist in developing a strategy for effective data cataloging, data lineage, and metadata management, and coach the business and technology teams to create, manage and maintenance of a data catalogue.
• Data Privacy and Compliance: Assist in defining data classification for compliance with relevant data privacy regulations, policies, and standards.
• Change Management: Assist with people and process change management support to ensure successful adoption and sustainability of data management and governance practices.
• Data Literacy Curriculum: Assist in developing and implementing a data literacy curriculum to enhance the understanding and effective use of data across the organization.
• Data Governance Technology Expertise:
• Provide subject matter expertise on data governance technologies, including configuration, implementation, and integration of tools like Microsoft Purview, Informatica, Unity Catalog, and Collibra.
• Provide oversight on the implementation of data governance technology (i.e. Azure Purview, Databricks Unity Catalogue, Colibra, or others)
• Support technical teams in setting up and optimizing data governance tools.
• Data Governance Reporting and Metrics:
• Develop and manage dashboards and reports to monitor data governance KPIs and metrics.
• Provide insights to senior leadership on governance performance and opportunities for improvement.
Practice Development Responsibilities: You must have experience with the following
• Support business development activities to acquire new customers and contracts
• Participate in proposals and draft SOWs for new business.
• People development to hire, coach, and inspire the Data team
• Learning development to inspire team on learning and adoption of new data concepts and technologies for data governance
• Championing the Data Governance practice with other Centrilogic business partners such as the Sales team.
• Act as a point of contact for tool vendors and partners to explore new capabilities and align tools with organizational needs.
Qualifications:
• You have proven Experience with Most of the above-stated responsibilities
• Completed undergraduate or postgraduate degree from a recognized educational institute in Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering/System Technology, Management Information Systems, or similar programs
• 6+ years of experience in data management and governance, with a strong focus on data governance practices and tools.
• Proven expertise in deploying and managing tools such as Microsoft Purview, Informatica, Unity Catalog, Collibra, and similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge in data governance including data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA, DCAM), regulatory compliance (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA), and data quality and metadata management practices
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience in training and supporting staff in data governance best practices
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to resolve complex technical issues.
