Job Title: Business Project Manager (Budgeting & Financial Costing)

Location: Brampton

Duration: 6 months

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Project Manager with a strong background in government budgeting process and financial forecasting. In this role, you will play a critical part in leading and managing the development of the 2026 budget for a large entity along with developing the process framework for subsequent budget years. A key aspect of this role is the ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels from the very top of an organization and through to the middle management and department heads providing clear communication and ensuring that process is effectively managed and stakeholders are propepry engaged throughout the project lifecycle.

The Project Manager will report to the Chief Administrative Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead cross-functional teams to successfully deliver business projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, timelines, and financial objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure that stakeholders are informed and consulted throughout the project lifecycle, addressing concerns and managing expectations effectively.
  • Financial Planning & Budgeting: Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets. Prepare detailed financial forecasts, track expenditures, and ensure that projects stay within budget.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports to stakeholders, including senior leadership. Provide insights into project financial health, and potential issues.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Identify financial risks early in the project lifecycle and work with stakeholders to mitigate these risks. Proactively address any issues related to budgeting, costing, or financial constraints.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes, particularly in areas related to budgeting, financial tracking, and stakeholder communication.
  • Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all financial management practices comply with organizational standards, industry regulations, and best practices.
  • Communication Planning and Execution: Provide leadership in the creation of a communication plan including all messaging, modalities for dissemination, timing and stakeholder groups

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Project Management, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).
  • Certified Project Manager (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, with a focus on budgeting, financial analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in preparing and managing complex budgets.
  • Proven ability to engage with and manage stakeholders, including senior leadership, finance teams, and external vendors.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Special consideration to those who have managed projects with strong organizational communication requirement/component
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and project management software (e.g., MS Project)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
