About the Role

We are searching for a highly motivated and technically-minded Supply Chain Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be a crucial link between our engineering and supply chain departments, driving cost reduction and component optimization for our battery energy storage products. You will collaborate closely with our mechanical and electrical engineers to identify and source alternative components and propose cost saving design solutions, ensuring we meet performance requirements while achieving cost-effectiveness. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, supply chain dynamics, and a passion for sustainable energy solutions.

Responsibilities and Duties

Technical Component Sourcing:

  • Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to understand the technical requirements and functionalities of BOM and BESS components.
  • Research and identify alternative components that meet or exceed performance needs while offering cost advantages.
  • Analyze component specifications, datasheets, and performance data to evaluate suitability.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of potential suppliers and their manufacturing capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager to develop sourcing strategies for identified components.
  • Support the qualification process for new components and suppliers.

Cost Reduction & Value Engineering:

  • Proactively identify cost reduction opportunities through component substitution, design optimization, and process improvements.
  • Contribute to and support BOM development, source secondary and tertiary vendors for all critical components.
  • Contribute to value engineering initiatives by proposing alternative materials, manufacturing processes, and design modifications.
  • Analyze cost drivers and develop strategies to mitigate their impact.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Build strong working relationships with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on component selection and sourcing strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers on technical specifications and requirements.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and emerging component technologies in the battery and renewable energy sectors.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in an engineering and/or supply chain role, preferably in the battery, renewable energy, or automotive industries.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain principles, procurement processes, and inventory management.
  • Experience with sourcing and procuring technical components, preferably in the BESS industry.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems and other supply chain management software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Passion for clean energy and a desire to contribute to a sustainable future.

Compensation package

Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 per year
