Role Overview

As the Director of PMO, you will be responsible for shaping and overseeing the company's entire project management function. This includes developing clear strategies, implementing best practices, and ensuring seamless delivery of all client-facing projects and programs. You'll work closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders to align project goals with broader business objectives, while also managing resources, budgets, and timelines for multiple engagements.

In addition to standard PMO leadership responsibilities, this role emphasizes maintaining strict security and compliance standards, particularly in MSSP environments. By establishing consistent frameworks and processes, you will help the organization deliver high-quality services, reduce risks, and exceed client expectations. The Director of PMO also plays a critical role in mentoring staff, driving continuous improvement, and cultivating a collaborative culture that values innovation and results.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading a PMO at a senior or executive level.
  • Strong knowledge of project, program, and portfolio management methodologies.
  • Hands-on expertise with SmartSheet, ServiceNow, and ConnectWise Manage.
  • PMI certifications (PfMP, PMP, etc.) preferred or willingness to pursue advanced certifications.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, IT, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities

·        Strategic Planning & Governance

  • Establish clear PMO strategies, goals, and governance frameworks, ensuring all project efforts align with the organization's broader objectives.
  • Standardize and refine project management methodologies, processes, and tools to meet industry best practices, security requirements, and compliance standards.

·        Cross-Functional Project Oversight

  • Lead large-scale initiatives that span multiple departments, ranging from Cybersecurity and Managed Services to Business Intelligence and Digital Transformation.
  • Ensure consistent execution, regardless of project size, complexity, or budget, while fostering collaboration among various teams and stakeholders.

·        Budgeting & Resource Allocation

  • Develop and manage PMO budgets, planning resources for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Oversee the effective utilization of PSA and project management tools (e.g., SmartSheet, ServiceNow, Moovila, ConnectWise Manage) to monitor cost, quality, and timelines.

·        Performance Management & Reporting

  • Track key performance metrics, producing clear and concise reports for executive leadership, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Regularly review project milestones, budgets, and deliverables to identify risks early and propose corrective actions as needed.

·        Risk & Compliance Management

  • Integrate robust risk assessment and mitigation strategies into every project, especially those with security or regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure alignment with industry guidelines (e.g., PMI, ITIL, ISO standards), particularly for MSSP environments where cybersecurity and data protection are critical.

·        Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Recruit, develop, and inspire a high-performing PMO team, providing coaching and career advancement opportunities.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and accountability, helping staff adapt to evolving business and technology needs.

·        Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Maintain strong relationships with senior leadership, clients, and third-party partners, keeping them informed of project status, risks, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate across departments, making sure diverse project teams share knowledge, leverage best practices, and work toward common objectives.

·        Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Stay updated on emerging trends, tools, and methodologies in PMO management, IT services, and cybersecurity.
  • Promote forward-thinking solutions and adaptive strategies, ensuring the PMO evolves alongside the company's growth and market changes.
