The Role

Our Banking & Financial Services Consulting Practice is looking for a Senior Director, Consulting, with proven experience in identifying and closing consulting services in the major Canadian banks, to join us on our journey to become the preeminent technology services partner to the Global 2000.

Our consultants apply industry-specific domain knowledge and understanding of Cognizant’s horizontal solutions to address client needs and requirements, to advise on and shape client strategies, to deliver optimum solutions that delight clients, and achieve client business goals. We work on some of the most exciting projects in the marketplace across our 7 verticals and 3 horizontals. We are looking a “rainmaker” experienced in crafting and selling techno-functional consulting propositions that address the most pressing needs of the top 5 Canadian Banks.

This position will help us to build our consulting business further with our existing tier one Canadian BFS clients, who are already benefitting from several Cognizant solutions payments’ services and solutions, while at the same time establishing and growing business in those areas where we currently do not have a substantive presence.

At the Director Level, this means driving cost effective end-to-end execution of consultant engagements, cultivating practice innovations, achieving financial targets (utilization, expenditures, revenue, margin), promoting Cognizant Consulting’s vision & mission, and building high performing teams across the organization. Responsibilities

· Serve as a Consulting Account Partner, bringing your areas of domain expertise to Cognizant’s clients, as we engineer modern businesses to improve everyday life

· Own and develop a book of business and actively engage in business development efforts, often owning quota for accounts, and ensuring profitable growth for the BFS Consulting practice and for Cognizant overall. Key metrics will include

o Consulting Sales, Revenue. Gross Margin, and operating margin on target accounts

o Increase Consulting’s penetration on target accounts as reflected by % of overall account pipeline and revenue

o Consulting’s Impact on overall improvements in Account Sales and Revenue (e.g. cultivating and driving large multiservice line deals)

o Personal Utilization (reflecting client’s perception of personal value)

· Engage in key account expansion, sales leadership, and internal executive stakeholder partnering based upon an expert understanding of such things as emerging market trends, client business direction, client requirements, evolving regulatory contexts and the feasibility of transformation goals.

· Establish and nurture relationships with cross-functional client executives and strive to serve as their trusted advisor.

· Exercise quality assurance for engagements within your remit.

· Leverage industry expertise and market sensibilities to propose forward-leaning refinement or extension of Cognizant’s Advisory Capabilities (offerings) required to drive adoption in target accounts

· Support and develop a long-term vision for expanding Cognizant’s footprint in target accounts that simultaneously leverages and increases Consulting’s impact on revenue growth

· Work with Consulting Practice leaders to create, update, and standardize consulting tools, methods, curricula, and career development requirements

· Partner with recruitment to attract high caliber consulting talent and the creation of a strong talent pipeline

· Mentor and coach consulting associates; lead people development and community-building activities

· Author thought leadership insights that are directly relevant to the target accounts supported advocates within Cognizant for the recognition of Consulting’s contribution to Cognizant’s profitability and market brand in these accounts.

· Participate in relevant industry panels and forums to promote Cognizant’s capabilities with key stakeholders of target accounts; gather insights on emerging business needs, requirements, technology, and competitive challenges

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (engineering or science related degree preferred but not mandatory)

· 15 + years of experience in establishing and building consulting presence across divisions in one or more major Canadian financial institutions.

· A successful track record of setting and achieving account-based engagement targets, controlling budgets, managing forecasts, and driving a matrixed organization of professional consultants in winning business and achieving financial targets

· Knowledge of current and anticipated industry developments relevant to the top 5 Canadian Banks.

· Ability to personally engage senior executives in discussions regarding domain specific business, operational, architectural, and regulatory issues to be addressed when optimizing and transforming business and IT operations.

· Ability to structure consulting engagements that effectively pull through other Cognizant technology and Operations services offerings. This requirement implies an understanding of the issues technical and operational challenges associated with integration, deployment, and maintenance of features and capabilities of leading banking, wealth management, payments, and regulatory platforms.

· Possession of a robust network of contacts and presence in target accounts (most notably BMO, Scotiabank, and CIBC), professional organizations and industry forums

· A hands-on leadership approach to create a culture and drive followership that enables exceptional outcomes; serve as a role model for Cognizant’s Core Values - work as one, raise the bar, dare to innovate, do the right thing, and own it.
