Your New Role

The successful Business Analyst will be responsible for day-to-day transaction management for our client. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Contracting in the Commercial Services department and be based in Calgary, Alberta. The Business Analyst will be involved in:



What you’ll do

Primary duty: day-to-day functions that include:

• prepare and issue transportation contracts;

• provide customer service for setting up new accounts, instruction on systems, dealing with customer contracting issues, posting information as required;

• follow contract governance and tariff guidelines at all times;

• Processing and assisting customers with day to day contracting transactions


- Secondary duty: process and system functions that include:

• assist in determining requirements for process/system improvements with the goal to implement ways to minimize risk, ensure accuracy and maximize value and setting up new process for the team;

• working with IT group to provide requirements, test changes, develop roll out plans, and implement the change internally and externally as required.


- Secondary duty: analytics and reporting functions that include:

• provide reporting support for Management and cross functional teams (Nominations, Commercial, Regulatory, Legal);

• adhoc analysis, data compilation and manipulation with large data sets.


Responsibilities

• Contract analysis and management, responsible for execution, monitoring, and continuous improvement of contracting function;

• Uses knowledge of tariff requirements for transportation services to ensure contract adjustments meet our terms of service;

• Help facilitate the ongoing exchange of information and continuous improvement across departments;

• Provides analysis and integrated solutions to eliminate reoccurring data issues;

• Assists in developing and maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation and provides knowledge transfer for business processes and workflows within functional area;

• Adheres to compliance with work standards, policies and procedures;

• Participates in projects, that involves enhancements to contracting systems including design requirements and user acceptance testing;

• Provides exceptional customer service; while providing solutions that support the needs of our customers and our client.


What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Pipeline regulatory knowledge, comfort with tariffs, knowledge of contract terms and conditions and experience with commercial services an asset;

• Excellent written and oral communication skills;

• Superior analytical and problem solving skills, and able to balance multiple competing priorities;

• Ability to collaborate with diverse departments without direct supervision while representing the Contracting team;

• Awareness and knowledge of end-to-end process in order to assess impacts to upstream and downstream functions an asset;

• Strong computer skills, with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite – particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word - able to manipulate large data sets into readable and usable information;

• PowerBI experience

• Exercises good judgment in selecting and interpreting information, handling deviations from standard methods, and resolving difficulties;

• Challenges and improves business processes within area of responsibility and understands impact within the business area;


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience resolving incidents and fulfilling requests in ServiceNow

• Microsoft certification

• ITIL V4 Certification

• CompTIA A+ Certification or equivalence

• 2 years of experience providing Executive support.
