Position Overview: We are seeking an AI/LLM (Large Language Model) enthusiast with a strong background in NLP, and familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, vector databases, cloud services, and custom model training and fine-tuning.

An ideal candidate will get to work with cutting-edge technologies in a fast-paced startup environment while experiencing firsthand exposure to an entrepreneurial journey. At the end of the journey, the ideal candidate will gather a deep understanding of system architecture and business requirements, with experience in developing and deploying AI solutions in healthcare or similar domains.


Technical Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques and familiarity with frameworks such as spaCy, NLTK, and Transformers
  • Solid understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, vector databases, machine learning principles, and AI model development with PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • Experience working with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Familiarity with system architecture, networking, porting, and version control systems
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, JavaScript, or similar.


Non-technical Qualifications

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • No covert contracts


Technical Responsibilities

  • Develop, train, fine-tune and deploy AI models for speech-to-text and text-to-semantic analysis to enable real-time feedback based on pre-defined performance metrics
  • Design and build RAG systems to enhance the retrieval of relevant information and support context aware conversations
  • Utilize vector databases to efficiently manage and query large datasets of training conversations and evaluation/feedback datasets
  • Optimize model performance and scalability to meet stringent latency and throughput requirements
  • Deploy and manage cloud services to ensure scalable and reliable AI infrastructure


Entrepreneurial Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in NLP, LLM, RAG systems, and related technologies.
  • Engage with stakeholders and translate business goals to technical milestones, aligning business requirements with product requirements.
  • Work alongside the founders to develop model-routing technology and bring it into production, shaping the direction of the product.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, XR developers, healthcare professionals, and business stakeholders, to integrate AI solutions into existing systems and workflows using a design thinking approach.
  • Document and present research findings and technical reports to internal and external stakeholders.

Intern Eligibility Criteria:

  • Enrolled full or part-time in a Canadian college or university
  • Studying any discipline, with any diploma or degree level
  • Will be enrolled (completing the program requirements) for at least the first 30 days of this internship
  • Holds Canadian citizenship, Permanent Residency, or refugee status
  • Interested in entrepreneurship and/or seeking alternatives to ‘traditional’ job placements


What We Offer:

  • Salary: 18$+ per hour (part-time, 20 hours per week)
  • Duration: 4 months (Sept 2024 - Dec 2024) - option to extend in winter 2025
