We are seeking a Managing Editor / News Director to support SecondaryLink's news team.


SecondaryLink delivers market-leading daily coverage of the private secondary market (including private equity, real estate, infrastructure, venture-backed companies, etc.). Our team of >20 provides critical insights, news, and analysis to a sophisticated audience of finance and banking professionals. We have become the leading news and data source in secondaries, as reflected in our remarkable reader, follower and new user growth, after one year of operations.

 

The ideal candidate will possess excellent editorial skills, a deep understanding of current events, and strong leadership abilities. This individual will be responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and engaging content that meets the needs of our readership. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, find and cultivate sources, innovate new and entertaining ways to present information, and create fresh angles to approach stories is imperative.

 

Candidates must have direct experience in at least one of the three:


  1. Financial journalism (as a lead reporter or editor)
  2. Private equity or Secondaries (buy-side or banking)
  3. Strategic Communications/Investor Relations for an asset manager or investment bank

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage news room (made up of researchers and reporters)
  • Allocate stories to reporters
  • Edit and publish all content
  • Oversee the strategy of writing of news stories
  • Strengthen and expand relationships with key firms and professionals in the industry
  • Write stories and conduct interviews
  • Interview secondaries professionals
  • Collect, verify and analyze information through online research and polls

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Business, Finance, Economics or related field
  • Knowledge of the secondary market for alternative assets is highly desirable.
  • Interest in finance, secondaries, private equity, and/or investing
  • Creative mindset, with a passion for finding new angles and approaches to news stories
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in at least one of the following:
  1. Reporting/editing in the financial markets
  2. Operating as a buyer or agent in the PE/alternative asset secondary market
  3. Strategic Communications or Investor Relations
