We are recruiting for an exceptional leader to be the next Executive Director of the Georgian Bay Land Trust.
Representing the world’s largest fresh water archipelago, Georgian Bay boasts more than 30,000islands and is a UNESCO designated World Biosphere Reserve. Covering the eastern shore of Georgian Bay, the GBLT is the second largest land trust in Canada and includes 79 protected properties totaling 9,872 acres plus an additional 32,900 acres through conservation programs with Georgian Bay municipalities. The GBLT is a fast-paced rapidly growing non-profit organization.
This is an outstanding career opportunity to lead and inspire an outstanding team while enabling conservation, research, and stewardship programs to flourish. At the helm of the GBLT you will be the face of the Trust to the community, donors, and various partnerships including governments, foundations, universities, and Indigenous groups.
Reporting to the Board you will lead the strategic planning, general and financial management, team development, and oversee the partnership, fundraising, communications and program management and board support for the Trust.
Your Experience and Interests:
- Proficient general management and organizational leadership experience including an aptitude for/experience in financial management, people leadership, human resources, and experience working closely with a Board of Directors.
- A keen interest to be the Executive Director for the GBLT coupled with strong passion and knowledge of the Great Lakes region and especially the east coast of the Georgian Bay community/region.
- Exceptional relationship management and partnership development skills ideally coupled with knowledge of public and private funding, including grant writing.
- A strong interesting and/or knowledge of land conservation/stewardship and environmental/ biodiversity programs and related activities.
- Ideally, knowledge of the operations of land trusts or an aptitude to learn.
- Known for inspirational leadership and unquestionable ethics, and exceptional inter-personal communication, fostering collaboration and excellent presentation abilities.
- Education: Post secondary education, ideally a Master’s degree that might include environmental science or a related field.
