Project Manager 2 - Electrification PMO

Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Dunsmuir 04

Annual salary: $ 127 800.00

What you'll do

The Electrification Program Management Office (E-PMO) was formed in May 2022 to help bridge the various efforts of
business units across BC Hydro that directly support electrification. The E-PMO brings together teams across BC Hydro to
better understand the internal challenges and opportunities that come with supporting our customers in making the energy
transition. Electrification is the societal shift over time towards decarbonization in response to climate change and it's
changing our customers' energy needs and expectations. In January 2024, BC Hydro announced our updated 10-year
capital plan of $36 billion, which contains community and regional infrastructure investments across BC and represents an
increase of about twice the investment to respond to the energy transition, and the interest and demand on our electricity
system by our customers.

Reporting to the Lead, Electrification Program Management Office, the Program Advisor (Project Manager), is responsible
for working with the business to identify opportunities to improve processes, leading cross departmental business
improvement initiatives including pilots to support electrification, identifying and raising risks with implementation of
initiatives, establishing reporting on initiative progress and key metrics, and providing program administration and controls
(i.e. Development of programs, tools, templates, processes, etc.).

Examples of pilots currently underway include:
The 'Account Team' pilot initiative establishes partnerships with cross-functional representatives from BC Hydro and
select local governments to identify priorities and develop solutions to overcome mutual barriers related to decarbonization
through electrification, including how we can work as partners to accelerate the infrastructure build.
The 'Gentle Density Working Group', which brings together a cross functional BC Hydro team, to identify challenges and
opportunities with provincial housing legislation (Bill44) which allows an increased number of units on single family dwelling
lots across the province.
The 'South Vancouver Island Joint Infrastructure Project Planning' pilot, bringing together local governments across South
Vancouver Island and BC Hydro project delivery teams, to support joint infrastructure project planning discussions to build
relationships and explore opportunities to align plans including co-tendering opportunities.
The 'Local Level Electrification Analytics Pilot', which is exploring how local government planning and policy data can be
used to inform BC Hydro capital plans.

Responsibilities include:
Identify internal barriers to electrification and engage the business to resolve problems by leading discussions with cross
functional representatives across BC Hydro.
Develop and make recommendations on solutions including scoping potential pilots. Build organizational support for
implementing solutions to overcome electrification barriers.
Lead cross departmental business improvement initiatives and pilots to support electrification, identifying and raising risks
with implementation of initiatives to a senior management level.
Build, project manage and implement short- and longer-term work plans.
Develop and implement regular reporting on initiatives and key metrics that supports progress on business initiatives and
pilots.
Develop and implement regular communications with internal and external stakeholders on initiatives.
Develop programs, tools, templates, and processes to support management of business improvement initiatives.
Facilitate information sharing between Business Group leaders and their teams.
Manage conflicting priorities and projects with tight deadlines, analyzing and communicating recommendations on

strategic and complex issues.
Model the one-hydro approach ensuring that decisions support the broader needs of the organization.
Keep a pulse on what's going on in the business and use this information to proactively identify opportunities to assist the
business to create greater value.

What you bring

A university degree and/or professional designation, or equivalent, with 8+ years of progressively more responsible
business or managerial experience. A combination of relevant experience and education as equivalent will be considered.
Strategic planning, executive-level writing, presentation preparation and project management/ planning skills.
Flexibility and creativity to adapt to changing business needs and feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
A strong and broad network of contacts throughout BC Hydro Business Groups to help support cross group collaboration.
Proven ability to be comfortable working in both senior level and front-line environments.
Strong relationship-building and communication skills (including good facilitation and public speaking skills) and the ability
to diplomatically deliver feedback and build consensus while working with employees at all levels of this business group.
Knowledge and experience working in a large multi-faceted organization and broad utility / operations business
experience is also an asset.
A proven ability to be a critical thinker and distill complex issues into key components for prioritization and resolution.
