We have engaged with a prominent research and innovation organization based in Alberta in our search for a seasoned Network Engineer. This role presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer who is passionate about their field and wants to significantly contribute to technological advancements within the Alberta region. The Network Engineer will play a vital role in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of the network hardware and software systems.


What you'll do:

  • Ensuring the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware and software, which includes routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Incorporating solid security measures to protect network systems from unauthorised access, data breaches, and various cyber threats, which involves the configuration of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and VPNs.
  • Monitoring network performance to optimise throughput and reliability, which includes mitigating performance bottlenecks and network traffic congestion.
  • Coordinating with third-party vendors and service providers to enhance network functionality.
  • Assessing network capacity needs and strategically planning for its expansion according to business demands.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting network issues, identifying their sources, and formulating viable solutions to limit any disruption or downtime.
  • Designing and maintaining stringent disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity during network failures or disasters.
  • Keeping accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, topologies, and additional procedures.
  • Fostering cross-functional collaboration within the organization to ensure seamless integration of network infrastructure with existing systems and applications.
  • Providing ongoing training and guidance to IT staff and end users in areas of network technologies, industry best practices, and security awareness.


What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience with HPE Aruba CX 6300s/8300s series, illustrating a firm grasp of its functionality and applications.
  • Proven experience with Aruba Central Management, showcasing their ability to effectively use the platform for streamlined network management.
  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with Wireless deployment and configuration, essential for ensuring optimal network communication.
  • Demonstrated skills in deploying and integrating HPE Aruba Networking ClearPass, including detailed working knowledge of TACACS, OnGuard and OnBoard policy features, or similar solutions.
  • Proficient experience with FortiGate NGFW products by Fortinet within an enterprise environment, essential for safeguarding network infrastructure.
  • Practical experience with a broad range of routing and switching protocols such as BGP, OSPF, VLANs, MPLS. Knowledge in these areas is crucial for ensuring network efficiency and seamless data traffic control.
