The Mining Key Account Manager will maintain and enhance the business partnership between Toromont CAT and VALE Canada Operations by providing complete customer service solutions to local mining sites, to help reduce total cost of mining operations.

In a typical day, YOU will:

  • Participate in safe and healthy work behaviors and practices at all times in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policy/Programs objectives and initiatives
  • Manage the assigned territory with new and existing accounts to ensure Company goals and values are met
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships through regular on site visits (surface and UG)
  • Manage relationships with the Service and Maintenance Managers to ensure annual parts and service budgets are aligned with customer's projected needs
  • Create and monitor sales objectives in collaboration with the Mining Team and Local Branch Manager
  • Assist Regional Branch with day to day site specific requests including asset management for services, CSA (Customer Support Agreements) contracts, parts planning
  • Prospect for new mining customers and provide quotes, warranty details and other product information
  • Coordinate quarterly mine site partnership meetings with Branch, mine management and procurement team accordingly
  • Co-operate with engineering firms on related mine expansion projects
  • Assist Mining Fleet Analysts with cost reduction projects and ensure the Product Support Team has the necessary resources to execute on the expected deliverables (CI initiatives, metrically driven)
  • Develop strong relationships with supplier/manufacturer sales representatives to continually promote our product offering
  • Ensure that Caterpillar and Toromont CAT partnership agreements are executed in good faith by all organizations


  • Must-haves for this role:
  • Post-Secondary Education (mining, mechanical, geological engineering preferred) and 3+ year experience in the mining/mineral industry
  • Solid knowledge of underground, surface mining equipment and operations processes (related WHMIS and Common Core training)
  • Technical industry knowledge related to mining process or heavy mobile equipment
  • Safety conscious, customer-centric, flexible, diplomatic and collaborative with excellent presentation skills
  • Influential leader with strong negotiation, superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to develop and nurture trusted and long term partnerships internally, externally and at all levels (mine operations to executive level)
  • Analytical with enhanced listening and problem solving skills, current on market conditions and business drivers
  • Deliver results in a fast-paced, demanding and deadline driven environment
  • Motivate others to adapt to changing priorities and environments
  • Solid business and financial acumen with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Applications and other customer programs
  • Bilingual (English & French) preferred
  • Willing and able to travel extensively throughout Canada and a valid Driver’s Licence and clean Driver's Abstract
