Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer - Telecommunications

Location: Ottawa, Ontario


About the Role:

Are you an expert in systems design, testing, and infrastructure with a passion for telecommunications? We are seeking a talented Senior Systems Engineer to join our team. You will collaborate closely with our Services Architect and Technical Team Lead to develop and refine overall system designs, conduct design and code reviews, and support project delivery in all environments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on System Design: Work with the Services Architect and Technical Team Lead on the overall design, and perform design and code reviews.
  • Testing and Validation: Collaborate with the team to test changes and additions related to the overall system design. Develop, execute, and record results from detailed test cases, including toll-free call testing and failover testing.
  • Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to maintain system integrity and performance.
  • Support Project Delivery: Assist in the distribution of builds across all project delivery environments to ensure seamless deployment.
  • Document and Report: Utilize the Microsoft Office suite to create detailed testing reports, methods of procedure (MOPs), test cases, and specification documents.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience 8+ years of experience as a Senior Systems Engineer.
  • In-depth Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of systems processes, internetworking, and SQL databases. Familiarity with server infrastructure, particularly Redhat 8.6.
  • Cloud and Infrastructure Expertise: Knowledge of cloud-based Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), NFVi, and bare metal infrastructure.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Ability to build and execute detailed test plans and test cases, including toll-free call testing and failover scenarios.
  • Telecommunications Insight: Understanding of the TNS Communication Application (CAS) platform and voice network positioning within a toll-free solution network.
  • Technical Reporting: Proficient in using Microsoft Office for creating testing reports and related documentation.
