Communications and Content Lead


Our client, a design practice comprising architects, urban planners, interior designers, structural, mechanical, electrical engineers and landscape architects, is seeking a Communications and Content Lead to work out of their Toronto office. This is a permanent, full-time, hybrid position, paying between 100-140k per annum, in addition to RRSP matching, parental leave top-up, competitive health and dental benefits, reimbursement of professional dues and generous vacation allowance.


Our client is seeking an experienced Communications and Content Lead to develop and deliver their communications, content, and media strategy in alignment with the firm’s Strategic Plan. This role offers the opportunity to amplify their brand by shaping narratives that retain, grow, and acquire clients, talent, influencers, colleagues, and collaborators. Responsibilities include overseeing and executing external communications, shaping internal communications and employee experiences, establishing meaningful metrics, and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is skilled in transforming complex topics into engaging, impactful social, video, audio, and written content, with expertise in digital content marketing, SEO, performance metrics, and the ability to develop and produce podcast and video content.


Reporting to the Director (Global), Marketing and Communications, you have a team to support you in addition to working and collaborating with other marketing and communications team members and practitioners.


  • How you'll make a difference Build, lead, mentor, and develop members of the communications team.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues, especially other Marketing and Communications Leads, the Chair, and other leaders to deliver our external and internal communications and content efforts.
  • Develop and implement communications and media priorities aligned with the firm’s Strategic Plan.
  • Lead operations of the firm’s external and internal digital and other communications channels, including website, intranet, social media, and earned media.
  • Establish and track relevant metrics, interpret qualitative and quantitative data to inform impact and effectiveness of campaigns.
  • Leverage data analytics to inform strategic decisions and discover areas of opportunity; advise on areas to optimize or automate and improve efficiency.
  • Create content guidelines and an editorial process. Implement training and application so that the guidelines and processes are practiced across the firm.
  • Transform complex topics into engaging, impactful social, video, audio, and written content.
  • Develop and produce written, audio and video content.
  • Provide advisory support to firm leadership and marketing leads across the practice to identify and coordinate external engagements and speaking opportunities.
  • Who you are A dynamic storyteller with excellent editorial judgement and strong written skills.
  • An exceptional relationship builder who can connect with diverse audiences and build trusted relationships.
  • You are comfortable navigating change and can pivot to balance and prioritize multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Experienced and understanding of social media strategy and content creation and management.
  • Successful delivery of complex projects that included a change management plan that was developed and exercised.
  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or Journalism.
  • 10-15 years of experience related to this role
