Qualifications
MINIMAL FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- A University degree in a related field is required.
- Masters level degree is preferred
EXPIERENCE:
- 3 years of directly related experience is required.
- Demonstrated experience in academic support service administration at a postgraduate institution, preferably in a program within medicine or allied health is preferred.
- Knowledge of University regulations, programs and procedures as they relate to the function/program.
- Experience with staff supervision, office administration, policy/procedural development, process improvement, change management, project management, and staff supervision.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong understanding of academic principles and theory as a basis for informing program development and change.
- Strong understanding of administration and general office procedures (e.g. minute taking, filing systems, email protocol, time management, etc.) as a basis to evaluate the performance of others.
- Strong knowledge of human resources information (working in a unionized environment, interviewing skills, performance appraisal processes, conflict resolution etc.)
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access as well as Adobe Acrobat.
- Demonstrated understanding of financial management.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures as they relate to finance, purchasing, reporting, and HR.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy essential.
- Demonstrated ability to manage staff.
- Ability to make sound independent judgements and utilize problem solving abilities.
- Highly organized.
- Project management, LEAN, and process improvement skills.
- Complex contract management and interpretation skills and working with legal departments.
- Ability to perform efficiently under pressure as a result of deadlines, etc.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple, simultaneous, and complex tasks and projects.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate key elements of complex issues/processes in writing and verbally.
- Ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff, students and the public while maintaining good relations.
- Ability to establish relationships with Faculty and University senior academic administrators/staff, being aware of political sensitivities and confidentiality issues.
