Description:

The Unit Manager of Women's Health performs a leadership role in the departments of Maternal Health including inpatient LDRP rooms, antepartum beds, an OB triage area and C-Section OR/PACU area and PACU. This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, leadership and organization over the activities of the patient care service in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. In addition, this position is responsible for making key decisions and direct leadership responsibility for establishing and contributing to the achievements of the patient care service goals specific to Women's Health. The Unit Manager is also responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders. Facilitating change management, promoting team development, teamwork and coordinating staffing and clinical work as identified by the Director within the services area. The development and maintenance of an effective framework for the operations of the patient care service in order to facilitate the delivery of efficient, effective and safe patient care.

Required Qualifications:

Current and maintained registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta required. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing desired.Must have strong clinical nursing skills with experience in clinical practice, leadership, facilitation, coaching, people management, change management and quality improvement. Experience in unit supervision/leadership and relevant nursing management experience.Knowledge of AHS, Alberta’s healthcare structure, and of collective agreements. Current BCLS-HCP certification required- issued from Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSFC) only.
