The Position

The Solution Architect is responsible for defining and communicating a shared technical and architectural vision across a Solution / Release Train in accordance with the overall Informatics technology strategy and principles to help ensure the system or Solution under development is fit for its intended purpose. Solution Architects ensure that the system is designed to run as expected, has built-in observability, balances emergent design and takes a system view across the full value stream. 

The person in this position will work with product managers, product line leads and the business stakeholders to enable the design and development of an integrated view of the business processes and the associated business landscape for the purpose of identifying current and future opportunities for optimization, integration and knowledge sharing. The solution architect will align with the enterprise architects and other solution architects to realize the vision of the domain and promote platform thinking, reusability and interoperability.

This person is also responsible to work with the ART to ensure delivery. Provides insight to key innovative technology trends and is dedicated to learning and supporting the evolution of technology within the vertical industry, which has the potential to accelerate the fulfillment of the business strategic vision. Using dashboards and governance boards, provides continuing communication to provide the business an overview of the progress of current IT innovation(s).

Scope of Activities

Provides strategic consultation to assigned line-of-business (LOB) customers in defining or designing business processes, functions and organizational structures, as well as using customer requirements in researching, identifying and internally marketing enabling technologies. 

Assesses current state of solutions, defines future state needs, identifies gaps and recommends new technology solutions and strategic business execution improvements

Facilitate stakeholder sessions with personnel across all disciplines in the company to identify and define requirements, assess business processes and evaluate technology solutions

Conduct solution architecture research, PoCs, PoVs, feasibility assessment and facilitate solution application selections 

Formulate business and logical data and solution architectures comprised of software, network, hardware and integration designs

Business process engineering and the ability to re-engineer as well as conducts impact assessments and mitigation plans

Works closely with Enterprise Architects on defining long term architecture vision, integration patterns and review of technical portfolio.

Creates and owns the Solution Architecture documentation

Develops IT Strategy & Roadmap consistent with the overall strategic needs of the business division.

Skills and Credentials:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience

7-10 years of professional IT experience. A demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate plans into operational excellence.

Deep expertise & business knowledge in the Pharma/Biotech/Dia/information industry and associated processes 

Implementation expertise in major applications such as :

Salesforce platforms (preferred) or other CRM software packages (Microsoft CRM, InterAction, SalesLogix, Oracle On-Demand, SAP etc.)

Experience with IQVIA / OCE highly desirable

Direct experience working on CRM projects for Life Sciences or Biotech companies

Direct experience in hands on coaching and developing SFDC applications

Build solutions in leveraging VisualForce, APEX, Lightning Web Components, Web Services, and APIs.

Support cross systems integrations across native Salesforce ecosystem, as well as first-party APIs and data centers.

Experience & expertise in core web technologies including HTML5, Javascript and jQuery

Software engineering with Platform (Apex, VisualForce, SOQL, Unit Testing)

Software engineering with Java SE & EE (Java, JSF, SQL) preferred

Demonstrated experience of relational databases, data modeling, and ETL tools

Experience with Agile development methodologies such as XP/SCRUM

Experience with web services (REST & SOAP, JSON & XML, Platform, Eclipse, Talend Open Studio, Oracle, MySQL, Visual Studio 2012, object relational (O/R) mapping (NHibernate), NUnit)

Expertise in multiple technologies domains networks, systems, databases, security, etc.)

Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies

Remains “evergreen” and keeps up-to-date with technology trends and emerging technologies

Demonstrated ability to develop and articulate a vision for one or more technology domains 

Proven experience of creating architecture designs using a formal architecture framework methodology – TOGAF, Zachman.

Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations

Strong leadership skills and experience in managing large groups. Person must have demonstrated ability to work across organizations.

Demonstrated effective oral, written, public, and interpersonal communication skills

Demonstrated ability to frame complex issues and persuade a wide and diverse audience

Capabilities:

Ability to build immediate respect and credibility with internal stakeholders and with executives

Proven sound and mature business judgment, capable of contributing on a broad range of strategic topics, not just technology issues

Demonstrated ability as a Strategic thought leader envisioning the future, recognizes and values the potential that IT can have on the organization

Ability to effectively define a strategic vision and communicate it effectively

Remains unbiased toward any specific vendor or technology choice; is more interested in results than personal preferences
