Job Title: AWS Solutions Architect

Location: Mississauga, Ontario

Job Type: Contract


Business Objective:

The Solution Architect (SA) will support multiple projects by defining and maintaining the digital technology stack and architectural patterns, participating in enterprise review board meetings, and solving business problems with digital capabilities and solutions. The role involves collaborating closely with application teams to understand requirements, design architecture, and ensure successful implementation. The SA will guide the development team in building solutions that are well-designed, standards-based, robust, and easily maintained.


Key Responsibilities:


Relationship Management:

  • Establish relationships with business, IT leaders, and technology subject matter experts with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Architectural Guidance:

  • Guide development teams towards best practices in enterprise solutions design and development.
  • Validate that all requirements are met and gain approval from the Enterprise Review Board (ERB).
  • Interface with business to discuss products and ideas, supporting Business Analysts.

Innovation and Compliance:

  • Seek innovative solutions through evaluation and proof of concepts.
  • Manage and update architectural models as business needs evolve.
  • Support efforts to achieve architectural compliance with company standards and regulations.

Design and Implementation:

  • Design resilient architectural platforms with disaster recovery in mind.
  • Assist in the assessment of existing disaster recovery plans.
  • Work with architects or technical leads to design and implement CICD pipelines.
  • Create and manage domain-level architecture with all technology information and integration details.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Collaborate with the Enterprise DevOps team to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and best practices.
  • Assist the existing in-house solutions architect and support projects involving ISCS connections to S3 buckets and Lambda jobs.

Analysis and Estimation:

  • Perform requirements analysis, effort and sizing estimations, and provide input to business case development.
  • Validate data requirements for applications and drive the creation of process models for business, application, data, and technology domains.


Required Skills and Experience:


Technical Expertise:

  • Minimum of 5+ years in technology, with experience in cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with DevOps toolchains, delivery, and working in agile DevOps environments.
  • Understanding of architectural design patterns and best practices.

AWS Proficiency:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in AWS architecture and solutions, including hands-on implementation.
  • Proficiency in AWS cloud services, including Lambda and S3.
  • AWS certifications preferred.

Integration and Data Management:

  • Knowledge of integration patterns and technologies such as ESB, API managers, and data streaming architectures.
  • Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB).
  • Understanding of data architecture design, implementation, and support.


Preferred Tools and Systems:

  • AWS Platform Services, Microservices, ERPs, and legacy environments.
  • Familiarity with IoT, AI, ML, and Chat Bot platforms.
  • Knowledge of ETL products (Informatica preferred) and emergent data technologies.
  • Understanding of security architecture and security domains.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent related college or technical courses, seminars, and in-house classroom training.
