The Department

This position is in the Facilities - Maintenance and Operations Department, which strives to provide safe, functional, and attractive facilities for students, staff, and community use. NWP takes pride in respecting and preserving its buildings and grounds, and this is reflected in the prompt and dedicated service provided by its maintenance and operations team.

The Role

Reporting to the Director, Facilities Maintenance and Operations, the Capital Manager is responsible for the management and reporting (internal and external) of capital expenditures at Northwestern Polytechnic. The Capital Manager is responsible for capital planning, space management, capital project management, and other tasks as requested from the Director.

Capital Planning:

Responsible for the management and reporting of capital expenditures Responsible for developing capital budgetary and planning processes Manage processes that will ensure the maximization of capital budgetary resources toward the delivery of organizational priorities Lead and mentor organizational members in capital planning by providing expertise and advice to departments for preparing briefing notes and business cases with capital impacts

Space Management:

Facility utilization tracking and allocation of space Responsible for the purchase, maintenance and allocation of institutional furniture and storage Responsible for collaborating with departments and programs on functional program development Lease administration for internal and external leased spaces

Project Management:

responsible for developing and implementing capital project tracking processes and reports, as well as capital budgetary and planning processes. developing scopes of work and RFPs for the various projects as approved at NWP. create clear and attainable project objectives, building the project requirements, while managing the projects primary key objectives - cost, time, and quality. engage with consultants, construction teams and clients/user groups to balance needs within project constraints, obtaining maximum cooperation between clients/user groups, support departments, external agencies, consultants and contractors.
