At the Lloydminster Co-op Marketplace Pharmacy, we pride ourselves in providing excellent patient focused care. We are looking for a Registered Pharmacy Technician that is eager to maximize their full scope of practice with the support of our pharmacy team.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Be familiar with and adhere to the current Standards of Practice for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians put forth by the Alberta College of Pharmacists

Perform final checks on prescriptions after they have been assessed by a pharmacist, including compliance packaging to ensure accurateness and to ensure the prescription is current, authentic and complete.

Troubleshoot billing/insurance issues and pharmacy software.

Receive and transcribe prescriptions from prescribers – verbal and in person and assess prescriptions for completeness.

Instruct patients about the use of health aids and devices.

Maintain patient profiles.

Gather and enter patient information and doctor prescriptions in the computer to generate accurate prescription label.

Prepare medications (counting, pouring, weighing, reconstituting, etc) after a pharmacist has determined appropriateness of therapy.

Compound medications by weighing, measuring and mixing ingredients as detailed in written compounding instructions.

Complete third party insurance forms and other paperwork.

Be familiar with location and have basic knowledge of products handled within the pharmacy department and merchandise area.

Provide information about over the counter drugs within scope of practice.

Assist in managing dispensary inventory. This includes all aspects of ordering and receiving as well as ensuring proper storage and handling.

Deliver prescriptions to patients as required.

Secondary Functions of the Job:

Complete cash register transactions.

Answer telephones.

Take inventory counts of medications.

Assist in maintaining housekeeping standards within the dispensary.

Assist in other areas as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Problem solving and analytical skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a professional manner

Ability to work flexible hours; including mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends

Knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations

Proficient computer skills

Attentive to details

Excellent time management and prioritizing skills

Education and Experience:

A certificate or diploma from a training program accredited by the Canadian Council for Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP)

Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Alberta College of Pharmacists with a current practice permit

Must hold a valid class 5 driver's license
