TheChief Surveyor utilizes their extensive knowledge to contribute tothe continued success and growth of the organization. The ChiefSurveyor will be assigned to projects in and around the Vancouverarea. The responsibilities of the Chief Surveyorinclude:
  • Leadingthe planning and implementation of survey requirements to executeconstruction activities;
  • Selectingthe survey equipment required for theproject;
  • Ensuring equipment ismaintained andcalibrated;
  • Maintaining accuratesurvey records documentation and stampedsubmittals;
  • Providing layout atvarious stages ofconstruction;
  • Monitoring organizingand managing the activities ofthe survey department including assigning surveyors and tasks basedon projectneeds;
  • Managingasbuilts information and digitalrecords;
  • Ensuringground surface and office surveys are completed per projectrequirements;
  • Monitoringhigh level engineering grade constructionactivities;
  • Downloadingsurvey data completing calculations problem solving as well as themaintenance of high accuracy of projectinformation;
  • Providingexpertise and guidance to the department as well as working as partof a multidisciplinary team to provide technical expertise andensure successful completion ofprojects;
  • Abilityto conduct traverse network monitoring topographical and as builtsurveys as well as constructionsurveys;
  • Providingprogress reports and field data to appropriate parties involved intheproject.


Requirements
  • Completionof postsecondary studies in Surveying Geomatics or Engineering orother applicabletraining;
  • Minimum15 years of relevant work experience in the surveying field with aminimum of 5 years of heavy civil constructionexperience;
  • Driverslicense isrequired;
  • Experiencein major construction projects in an urbanenvironment;
  • Knowledgeof survey practices andstandards;
  • Knowledgeof engineering design and surveymethods;
  • GPSand total station experience isrequired;
  • Strongknowledge of complex survey tools andequipment;
  • Demonstratedleadershipskills;
  • Goodknowledge of Job Site Health and Safety rules andregulations;
  • Knowledgeand professional proficiency with MS Office Suite Surveyingsoftware and Engineeringbasedsoftware;
  • Mustbe willing and capable of working outdoors in all weatherconditions;
  • Bilingual(an asset) but proficiency in English language with excellentcommunication skills (written and verbal) isrequired.
