General Summary

The preventionist's main function is to support managers and workers in the workplace in the identification, correction and control of environmental risks. To do this, he/she will be involved in conducting audits, investigations, accident analyses and risk assessments and will communicate the results to key stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate and participate in workplace inspections. Plan, coordinate and participate in OHS audits in the distribution center Conduct preventive inspection Evaluate the risks present in the environment using a risk matrix. Coach and actively support supervisors in incident/accident investigations. Coach and actively support supervisors in the implementation of corrective measures. Verify compliance with OHS rules and procedures and communicate any deficiencies to key people. Act as awareness agent and intervene when needed. Produce OHS statistical reports • Analyze the risks of the work environment and recommend prevention programs accordingly. Participate and lead health and safety committee meetings. Participate in the update/development of the lockout program, work at height, confined space. Write and communicate information on work safety and accident prevention to the employee groups concerned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Occupational health and safety certificate or technique 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar position Flexible and available to work outside of regular business hours Bilingualism French/English (essential); Ability to work in a context of continuous improvement and change. Ability to prioritize. Communication, negotiation and persuasion skills. Organizational skills, rigor and autonomy. Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
