As a

Highway Maintenance Operator, you will begin to know the highway like the back of your hand as you perform summer and winter road maintenance on provincial highways, responding to emergency situations such as spills, accidents, inclement weather, and assist in implementing an emergency plan. You will also investigate and respond to inquiries, liaise with the Patrol Supervisor and The MTO to resolve concerns, always ensuring the safety of the travelling public.

When you are not patrolling the highways, you will be conducting daily circle checks on vehicles, cleaning, and performing equipment maintenance and operating heavy equipment, including winter combo units, spreaders, and loaders as required. Safety will be your number one priority, especially when providing traffic control at accident scenes and making snow and ice control decisions such as initiating equipment and operator call outs. It will also be important to stay organized when completing daily timesheets, logbooks, and hours of service.

You will be an essential member of the maintenance team and first point of contact in some situations. If you have a safety focused mindset and love to be on the road, this is the ideal role for you.
