The Role

Pipeline TDs are the software developers who create and maintain digital assets and workflow-related tools, enabling production artists to work efficiently at scale. Pipeline TDs can be software generalists, or specialize in certain pipeline domains such as Core (back-end), 2D (Comp, Editorial Texturing… ) or 3D (Model, Animation, FX…).

We are seeking to recruit a Mid-level Python Developer - Pipeline TD to join the team, initially focussing on Review Systems, but eventually supporting and improving a wide range of pipeline workflows. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate on, influence and own a Pipeline toolset that directly serves our producers, supervisors and clients. Technical Directors work within the global pipeline team, supporting a broad range of live-action and computer generated projects with a variety of digital content including episodic and features.

What you will do

Design, develop and maintain pipeline softwareWrite clean, efficient and maintainable code using industry best practicesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyse requirementsParticipate in and contribute to agile practices for pipeline development projectsWork closely with other developers, product managers and stakeholders to ensure successful project deliveryActively participate in code reviews to maintain quality of code, identify potential issues and ensure adherence to coding standardsContribute towards architecture and design decisions for projectsStay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve skills and bring innovative ideas to the team
Take ownership of specific components or modules of the pipelineProvide technical guidance to associate pipeline TDs

You Have 

Experience working with RV, Hiero, ffmpeg and similar software packages used in VFX or Animation video review sessions.Industry experience working with Editorial departments and VFX or Animation production teams is desirable.Proficiency in one or more relevant programming languages (Python, C++, Qt, Javascript...)Familiarity with Linux/Unix-based professional development environments, CI/CD pipelines and test automation.Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.Ability to convey technical information to non-technical people.Excellent problem solving and debugging skills, both when working independently and collaboratively within a team.Experience developing for CG applications such as Nuke, RV.A good understanding of the entire visual effects process, from shooting through to compositing.
