About the Role

As a Technical Animation Director at Ubi MTL, you will provide expert guidance, tools, and support to drive game development success. Your high-level understanding of our technology combined with your visibility on the project will enable you to steer a game – and its creators – towards success.

  • You will collaborate with core team members to develop the overall vision and determine technical feasibility;
  • Review game design concepts and identify and analyze risks (engine, memory, frame rate, etc.);
  • Work closely with programmers to assess existing animation and rigging tools and occasionally design custom ones to improve pipelines;
  • Support animators, game designers, and riggers with their technical needs and informatively explain the root causes of risks, blockers, etc.;
  • Train team members on tools and techniques and raise awareness of new processes;
  • Resolve complex, escalated issues and make technical validations;
  • Prepare post-mortems and recommend cost- and time-efficient solutions to evolve our animation content and tech;
  • Participate in recruitment to build the animation team and foster their professional development.
Required Skills and Qualifications

We are seeking an individual with around 7 years of experience in animation, rigging, or programming, along with 3 years of leadership experience. A degree in 3D Animation, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering is also essential. Additionally, excellent communication, interpersonal, mentorship, time management, organizational, and presentation skills are required.

Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira) and version management systems (e.g., Git) is also necessary. Above all, we are looking for a passionate individual who enjoys sharing knowledge and helping others learn and grow.
