Position Summary
The Postdoctoral Fellow position, focusing on Nanomedicine for the treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC), is open at ’s laboratory at the University Health Network, Toronto. This role specifically involves using animal models to explore innovative nanomedicine approaches aimed at treating HCC. Dr. Bhat, a Hepatologist and Clinician-Scientist, is part of UHN’s Multi Organ Transplant Program and the Toronto General Research Institute. Her research adopts a bench-to-bedside approach, linking clinical outcomes to fundamental research. Utilizing systems biology tools, her team conducts bioinformatic analyses of ‘omic datasets (such as transcriptomic, miRNA, and methylation) from patient samples, with subsequent in vitro and in vivo validation. Her key research interests include HCC, Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH), and liver regeneration post-transplantation. 

Duties

Guide and perform wet lab experiments and data analysis  Design and guide animal studies for validation purposes  Writing grant proposals and peer reviewed papers  Analysis and review of previous data obtained in the lab pertinent to the projects  Weekly participation to lab meeting and additional focus meeting as requested by the PI

Qualifications

PhD degree  Extensive wet lab experience  Excellent knowledge and experience in molecular biology and basic science techniques  Previous experience in animal studies is not mandatory but is preferable  Basic knowledge in bioinformatics tools and analysis  Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to work effectively independently and as a team member
