Disability Management Specialist

PURPOSE and SCOPE
This position administers Workers Compensation Board (WCB), short term disability and long term disability claims by communicating with the appropriate parties. Coordinates and develops return to work accommodations and assists with developing disability management programs. Develops wellness initiatives related to health and wellness.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities for this position;
Plan and implement internal communication and education about the disability management program for all stakeholders. Develops return to work accommodations by communicating with employees, leaders and the bargaining unit to establish an appropriate reintegration plan. Administer WCB, Short Term and Long Term Disability and to ensure appropriate adjudication of claims. Work with the insurers to develop an injury management plan for the injured employee. Identify appropriate modified/transitional work and assigning injured or absent employee to identified tasks. This will include assessing workstations within the Manufacturing facilities when required. Maintaining confidential case records is imperative. Coordinate ergonomic consults as required. Assist with Health and Wellness initiatives, which may include such items as Safe Lifting, Ergonomics, Wellness, etc. Enter relative data into HRIS systems as it relates to leave and disability. Following and adhering to developed processes and procedures. Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Post secondary education in Disability Management and Human Resources Management Certification (CHRP) an asset. Three to four years previous experience in Human Resources including knowledge of Safety and Disability.Skills and Knowledge
Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation, Workers Compensation and other legislation as it relates to disability management. Previous experience in facilitating and coordinating a return to work program. Ability to liaise with benefit carriers. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to protect the confidentiality/privacy of others with the highest confidence, as well as company documents and records is imperative. Working knowledge of software products such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, etc. required.-
