Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate should have the ability to work various shifts including days, evenings, weekends and take call by responding within 30 minutes. An ability to work well with patients and all members of the healthcare team. Entering, reviewing, reporting, and distributing patient results in an accurate, complete, timely, and efficient manner. Assessing unusual tests results and proceeding with established procedures for follow up with senior staff, pathologists, and physicians. Operation, calibration, and performance of basic troubleshooting with selected instrumentation and reporting equipment malfunction. Performing all required Quality Control procedures and maintaining accurate and up-to-date records. Investigating and documenting Quality Control problems and following up with Charge Technologist. Follows all established safety policies and procedures. Participation in training of new staff and students. Demonstrates interest in professional growth and be prepared to maintain competency of technical skills.
