**Your Opportunity**:
This position is negotiable within North Zone. The AHS Infection Prevention and Control program is seeking an Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) to join our team. You will work with the IPC team and connect provincially to be a leader in reviewing best practice, advising in IPC measures, and supporting program leaders and staff in IPC practices focused on patient safety and infection prevention. New employees to the IPC program will be required to work all workdays at their assigned location on-site, for the first 6-12 months. Duration is determined by management. As an Infection Prevention and Control Professional (ICP), you will be covering Area 1 of North Zone including High Level, Fort Vermilion, La Crete, Paddle Prairie, and Rainbow Lake. Ideally, you will be located in High Level. North Zone Infection Prevention & Control Area 1 Sites: High Level, Fort Vermilion, La Crete, Paddle Prairie and Rainbow Lake. Location negotiable within North Zone. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Travel Expense Reimbursement: Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.

**Required Qualifications**:
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or Public Health. Other clinical health-related baccalaureate or graduate degrees may be considered if curriculum content equivalency can be adequately demonstrated. Minimum of three years' experience in a clinical health care setting, or experience and proficiency in two of the following: 1) patient care practice; 2) microbiology and infectious diseases; or 3) epidemiology and biostatistics. Active or eligible registration with the applicable regulatory college i.e. College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA), College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA), etc.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Recent experience as an Infection Control Practitioner, or completion of an IPAC endorsed novice IPC course is required.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Certification in Infection Control CIC© from the Certification Board of Infection Control. Recent experience in; nursing, microbiology and infectious diseases, epidemiology and biostatistics, laboratory technology, or public health.
